you can do it if you have the right voicemail package just by dialing *94 and hitting the # of rings you want eg. "6"...But I just had the cheapy VM and could not do it.

Ok, wow... I called Telus Loyalty, and the guy put me on hold to find out how to increase the length of time before voicemail kicks in... and he came back to tell me that he had talked to tech support, and they told him they can't change it. He said it somes from the phone's manufacturer or something.

Very surprising... I'm kind of at a loss here. What the hell?

I would call back again, probably got a moron.
What I usually do is dial *611, when the computer voice starts I say "cancel service" and I'm on the phone with loyality asap. Explain to them with this phone you cannot answer the dam thing quick enough before it goes to VM. The people I talked to knew about *94 and here is the link from telus on how to use it, if you have the proper VM package.
