The guy bought a phone that would have, no matter what, on sprints end, come back with a clean ESN. So, what is the buyer sappose to do? Also Sprint should be more aware of where phones are going and how the insurance company that they promote is doing business. |

I couldn't have said it better myself, and amen to that.

Well said. This particular situation, from what info we have here, appears to be not at all Sprint's responsibility. |

Re: Sprint Is Full Of Crap!
Well, there are actually several reasons to buy a phone off of eBay. We have a 4-line family plan. My teenager goes through phones like she does socks. So we needed one without being eligible for a discount - we went on eBay.
Another time, I saw a phone I wanted to try out. Didn't want to extend our contract for it, ordered it on eBay. It's ALWAYS risky to buy a phone off eBay. What helps is to have a trusted seller, checking feedback, ESN and guarantees. But even that might not have protected the OP from this scam. That's why I ONLY buy phones as a gamble, dirt cheap and keeping any losses at a minimum. So far, that worked out great. Only got one bad phone yet and got my money back for it. Lucky! My GOOD phone (HTC TP) of course, I bought through Sprint, with a proper paper trail and insurance to boot. This was NOT an amount of $ I cared to gamble with and I have 30 days to change my mind - legit. |

In all fairness... The OP did NOTHING wrong. He bought something that should unfortunately turned out to be a scam. The OP is the victim... Not Sprint. |

Re: Sprint Is Full Of Crap!
no argument there, but i took issue with his immediate blame of sprint when they have nothing to do with it. when you buy on ebay you take this risk. it sucks, but if you want to guarantee this wont happen then buy directly from the carrier or live with what you got yourself into.

Do you work for Sprint? Are you the rep he was complaining about?? If not, then the fact you took issue with his complaining is a mute point. The OP explained to Sprint what happened... Sprint can investigate the phone and simply see that the OP is not who they sent the phone to in the first place. They (Sprint) should be charging the ebay seller...not the OP and there is nothing wrong with the OP having a problem with that. |
