Re: Diamond may be all I need
the diamond is a great device. i have had it since it came out, but i will be getting the pro just for the expandable memory. i truly love the size and funtionality of the diamond, but i bothered me that when i took it into the store the guy just replaced the phone without telling me and transferred all my files. call it paronoia, but i don't know if he looked thru them or not. so i like being able to take the card out when i give them the phone. this is totally a preference thing. it may sound a little crazy, but i will give up the smmall phone for this. the kb and flash and tv out i will probably never use. i had a touch befroe the diamond and have grown to like the onscreen kb

Re: Diamond may be all I need
I used to have the PPC-6700 w/ the slideout keyboard and really never used it. The device was bulky and certainly not a "pocket" pc. I usually used the stylus to do all my typing. Now that I have the Diamond, and have optimized my battery via registry edits and a few days of battery charging/utilization, my battery is working great! 4 bars for almost 16 hours, and I've done text msging, surfing the web for 15 minutes, voice calls totaling 30 minutes, weather updates, etc.
I thought I'd need external storage but 4gb is a lot for these devices. I do not intend on buying any songs from Sprint Music Store. My Diamond has turned out to be a Best Friend. |

Re: Diamond may be all I need
Hey guys,
Im in the same boat here, I have a Diamond on order from Sprint, but I purchased it with the intention of trading it in for a Diamond before 30 days. After holding both the Diamond and Touch pro at Best buy, i really like the smaller form factor of the Diamond. The TP is not much bigger, but its big enough to make a difference in your hand and in your pocket. The Diamonds rounded edges really make a big difference. The biggest downer and what may ultimately cause me to trade up is the 4GB, nonexpandable memory. It baffles me how shortsighted HTC was on this one. Ive been using a Treo for the last few years with an 8GB memory card at near capacity. I keep videos and tons of music on it which I listen to at teh gym over A2DP. With only 4GB, I may have to rely more on ORB. I'm going to give the Diamond the ole college try and we'll see what happens in a month! |

Re: Diamond may be all I need
Very interesting reading of everyone's opinions and much appreciated. I am also leaning towards keeping my diamond(also coming from a 6700 which I still like and use by the way).
I LOVE the form factor of the diamond, 4gb is enough for me, and I never used keyboard. My question is what does everyone think of the internal storage memory diff between the diamond and the pro. My diamond had 46mb stock and I am up to 74mb after getting rid of the junk. I here the pro has 270mb. Is that a significant reason to change? Ajay |

regarding your question, it is significantly more but I am hearing this may be overkill. plus the tpro must have more draw on the battery than the diamond which would be a turn off to me. |

Re: Diamond may be all I need
If u do a hard reset and after a reboot dont let it do the sprint customizations by soft reseting 2 times in a row u will buy yourself 20mb. Also get rid of the touch flow manual from windows folder(about 10mb). Theres other stuff too like ringers, alarms that i moved to the storage card. I also noticed the stock opera wants to load in internal memory but the new opera 9.5 beta only takes up half as much space if u tell it to install on storage card. There are some interesting threads on storage memory that I found all this stuff.
