Re: Android on touch 100%

i think there are going to be 2 major hurdles:

1. the obvious resolution difference
2. the hardware differences

I know resolution will be an issue but no clue how much of an issue the difference in hardware will give. I know for a fact currently its set to run off an SD card so itd have to be adjusted for a Diamond since we have internal storage which is named differently.

theres a thread on xda with a very early port, but i have no clue why the 2 efforts havent been combined and why the Diamond/Pro effort is so far behind (its very basic like the Touch port 3 months ago)

HOORAY!!!! I read this yesterday... no mention of the Diamond yet...

It's not 100%, GPS and some other features are not working (i guess the USB and Bluetooth functions as well).

Anyways, just a few tweaks, some dedicated guru's, we should have this around christmas! Lol!

Re: Android on touch 100%

Honestly, would anyone really run this on their device except for novelty's sake?

Why not just get a G1? or an iPhone for that matter? Instinct?

I have the Diamond, because of Windows Mobile, not in spite of it.

that and Android is open source meaning you can put it on any hardware in theory. Youre not locked to one form factor.

Android is quite a good OS, remember its only a few months old vs WM which has been out for years. Its not a fair comparison, and Android is plenty capable and may even pass up WM at some point if Microsoft doesnt get with the program and update their stagnant OS. Android is already smoother and snappier overall without the "hourglass wait time" that WM has making it appealing to a lot of developers and consumers.

Because the G1 hardware sucks.
