Android is quite a good OS, remember its only a few months old vs WM which has been out for years. Its not a fair comparison, and Android is plenty capable and may even pass up WM at some point if Microsoft doesnt get with the program and update their stagnant OS. Android is already smoother and snappier overall without the "hourglass wait time" that WM has making it appealing to a lot of developers and consumers.

Fair enough. I ran Android on my Mogul when I had it, and was under impressed. However, it was in an early alpha stage, so it may get much better..

Anything Android is.... loads better than the crappy Instinct. I owned the Instinct and it is by far not even in the league of phones that the iPhone, G1, Diamond are... not even close. Man, I had a sanyo 8400 clamshell and prefered it over my instinct... ugh... i get cold chills just thinking about that phone... i need a cold shower when I think about more ways to mod the diamond

- plus i don't have to fork out any extra cash to check out android rather than just playin with it in the store (like i did with Instinct's OS)

try the latest build your in for a real treat. Yes the first release was complete and utter garbage but it should of been. The latest just watch the vid man. Immagine how nice this will look on the diamonds screen.

And the nice thing is it runs over the top of windows mobile. Soft reset and your back in wm6.1. So you could call it a today theme LOL

But I do have one question... If it is running on top of WM - isn't it just like TF3D or SPB Shell? So it isn't really using the full potential of the Android OS.

well the phone has 2 types of memory temp mem and the nvram. When your phone is off nvram is asleep and has all your wm stuff. When you turn the phone on everything is loaded running ram. When you run the android it replaces all the running mem with android so you cant even access any wm stuff its is its own running os at that point. Soft resetting the phone reloads all your wm stuff from the nvram. Dont confuse the nvram with the rom ram that is only access upon a hard reset which when that is done everything is copied to the nvram and all nvram settings are erased back to the factory rom default bootup settings.

I just purchased a alltell purple touch and flashed it to cricket and loaded android on it and set it up to load from the registry on boot. I bought it off craigslist for $150 bucks and sold it for $400.
