Re: Help - New Diamond with random stuff on internal memory

If a device has less than 15 minutes usage on it, they will not flag it as a refurb, but a new device. They are supposed to wipe it, but **** happens.

Re: Help - New Diamond with random stuff on internal memory

Is there any way I can tell how much usage this had on it? When I did the ##778#, it only had 7 minutes on it. But could that have been after a hard reset?

No, the usage isn't wiped after a hard reset. So it only had 7 minutes on it.

Re: Help - New Diamond with random stuff on internal memory

probably a double order phone. Some people did get those. They ordered 2 for some reason or from different suppliers. Probably didnt take the clear plastic off it, because it still works good with the plastic on, plugged it in to "try it out" and activesunc crapped out or they were complete noobs to WinMobile. Although it did work they dint know how to navigate to the storage area.

Maybe it was one the units that had two Intenal Storage areas. And when they wiped it, it only wiped Main Memory, and Internal Storage, but failed to delete internal storage 1 Then on the Hard reset, the bug was "fixed" and the phone set the old internal storage 1 to Internal Storage and Sprint assumed "it was good" and sent the phone back out to the next person.

Can I ask, anygood pictures ? Too bad it wasnt paris hiltons phone prior to yours. You would be rich and mentally damaged at the same time.

Re: Help - New Diamond with random stuff on internal memory

from what i understand they can still sell the phone as new as long as it is returned within the 30 days from activation. that is why they are so strict on getting it back on time. if not they have to flag it as a refurb. as for clearing the internal memory i have found that this is totally new to alot of the techs and they think that the normal ##rtn# clears everything, but it doesn't. i had to make sure my stuff was deleted myself when i went into the store.

Re: Help - New Diamond with random stuff on internal memory

Yeah, it appears this phone met the criteria to still be considered new. Sadly, the photos were not good. Not good at all. An older gentlemen in Florida owned the phone before me, he went to Washington DC on vacation, went to his 30 year high school reunion, and built a fire bit in his back yard.

Last night, I went through the music (can't argue with free music). But his musical tastes left much to be desired. Mixed amoung such calssics as Dwight Yoakam, the Commodores, and Aretha Franklin, I found such hits as Sir Mix Alots Baby's Got Back and Justin Timberlakes Sexy song. But who could forget Vanilla Ice's hit Ice Ice Baby. to go to go.

It it weren't for his affinity for the Beatles and Jimmy Buffet, I probably would have just tossed this thing out and called it a day.

Has nothing to do with 30 days. Has everything to do with usage. You can buy the phone, talk to someone for 30 minutes, turn around and decide you don't like it, not even had the phone an hour, and it has to be made a refurbished phone.

Re: Help - New Diamond with random stuff on internal memory

Interesting. Do they still go through an examine the device before re-selling? They did go through and put all the plastic wrappers back on. And boxed it back up, it looked brand new. That's interesting, though, cause it means anyone's phone could have been sold once already.

Re: Help - New Diamond with random stuff on internal memory

When I sent mine back, I did a hard reset and waited for it to install customizations and everything, then went to check my Internal Storage, and everything was still there. The hard reset offered me no way to clear the internal storage. The girl at the Sprint store even did a ##RTN on it and still the Internal Storage did not clear. I had to manually delete everything. I'm willing to bet that Sprint is unaware that ##RTN doesn't clear Internal Storage and is repackaging the 30 day returns and sending them out as new.
