Re: Battery Fix

I have installed the battery fix and have seen some improvements in the battery. I have tried everything including turning off the beam, lowering the screen brightness, flashing new custom roms, etc. The only thing that has worked for me is to set active sync to manual. I look at it this way. As much as I need my exchange push email, while at work I don't need it since I am sitting at my desk for most of the day. So I only set active sync to "as items arrive" before and after work but not in peak times. Occasionally syncing to update my mail throughout the day.

Just to experiment today I kept my active sync on manual all day, turned the phone on around 10:30am and ran it all day and night until around 1am with light usage (a few calls, texts, 15 min of web, 15 minutes of youtube, rss reader, etc. I still had around 70% battery life remaining. also to be fair I was in 3 bar evdo the whole time. Normally with active sync on set to sync every 15 minutes I would be at 30% or less. So for me, active sync is using a tremendous amount of battery life.

off subject, I also noticed my data coverage in my house improving this week with ev 1 bar in my basement with no roaming where as before I was dead down there. Not sure why unless they fixed something or is it possible my phone is doing better finding a signal? I'm still using the stock radio as well.

Re: Battery Fix

Have you also notice when you unplug your charge cable the batt icon still shows it as being charged for a few mins?

All the poling does is change the timings on how often the battery is pulled for status. As in is it on a charger or is it running on batter or how much life is the bat reporting. It does nothing to conserve power.

Dialed my windows 2008 server via modem connection to establish a vpn session, one that never times out like a data internet connection. Left the phone connected for 3 solid hours and bat was dead. Same ammount of time no matter what setting was used.

I believe it should work, because it did originate from the Titan.

Try it and let us know if you notice any difference.

Re: Battery Fix

dcdupre

You are right, and wrong...

All this does is change how often the system polls the battery, so it can report the battery level (or if it's charging.

However each time it polls the battery it wakes certain processes that were otherwise idle, and USES power to poll the battery.

If you are not OCD about knowing the exact state of you battery every few seconds then it will consume your battery less, esecially when your device is sleeping.

I think you would see a much larger difference if you turned everything off and found out how many days the battery would last doing nothing. Testing while doing something with a high draw and wide awake device will see very little difference.
