here are the files for people who don't want to run a custom ROM. The ICSInstall.CAB is the internet sharing program itself, the other one is so internet sharing becomes an option in the pop up menu (HTC diamond) when plugging into a computer. I hope this helps.

PS you need activesync 4.2 or higher and you may need to disable USB connections: open actvesync, file, connection settings, clear the "allow usb connections" check

But my question is this. How do they know I'm tethering and not actually browsing with my phone? Are they able to actually make the distinction and bill you appropriately?
Unfortunately the TCP protocol is always looking for tethering connections. The best thing do is, if you have an unlimited data plan you can use PDAnet. It bypasses (Hides) the TCP protocol and enables you to surf the web using your unlimited data plan. The reason for this is the mobile browsers on phones today, pull the same amount of data as your desktop. There for there is no way of telling using the software!

Re: Tethering with Telus

guys do not tether your devices. It will charge you $30/mb because its Pay Per Use on data . Do it if you really need to. I am in the DNA dept and i know all about the data inquiries. I just dont want you guys to inquire 3 mb for 90 bucks or maybe 100mb for $3000. I see this all the time I'm just warning you now. Also i think the 8/ mb is just for us roaming.

Re: Tethering with Telus

I'm glad you aren't the one making the rate plan choices on my account.

Let me know when Telus gets Deep Packet Inspection and stops deleting ICS from their ROMs, replacing it with the useless WModem.

I have been dealing with telus for years now and 8$/mb for data within the network as well. As for the tethering, well, obviously you haven't done your research that well. PDAnet overrides the protocol that tells the telus servers that tethering is being done and if you check the data usage between your desktop and your HTC phone, the numbers are almost exactly the same. I have been doing for a while with no charges on my account! WMWiFiRouter does a good job as well, but, PDAnet is a lot more user friendly!
