Re: Ringtones for Known and Unknown Callers

Wow! When I started this thread I figured I'd get lucky to get one response. You guys are the greatest. Now my only fear is that when you figure it out it will be over my head and I won't be able to use it. But thanks, all of you for your efforts. It was a cool feature, the only redeeming feature on the 800w.

Re: Ringtones for Known and Unknown Callers

well oncei figure it out i will be packageing it in a cab file for users to one click install. im at a loss i imported both reg's in full to just see. i can set ringers for Roaming and unknown caller. but they always default to the default WM ringer when the phone rings. i have to figure out how the notification calls the ringer. since the diamond came with one ringer it doesnt need a reg string telling it where the known caller ringer is because it just uses the default reg entry ringtone0, the roaming ringer and so forth would use ringtone1, ringtone2 and so forth. so i dont know what to name the string to point it to the ringtoneX.

this is why when i choose the know call ringer the unknown call ring changes with it. both the notifications are point at the same ringer reg entry (default)

Re: Ringtones for Known and Unknown Callers

my last ditch effort will be to dump the verizon treo 700wx rom search the rgu and try those reg settings. i also might have to snag a palm app from the rom. (i think thats how palm handls multi C ID ringers. i see reference to "palmnotify" in the ringer settings from the 800w thats why its not working for me.

Re: Ringtones for Known and Unknown Callers

Ok, Update and this is where i stand

Ive added the key:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\Known Caller]
@="Phone: Known Caller"
"Options"=dword:80000000
"Wave"="\Windows\Ring-WindowsMobile.wma"
"DisplayOrder"=dword:00000002
"Duration"=dword:00000001

This shows in the Sounds and Notifications settings as Known Caller

Ive changed

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\Phone]
"DisplayOrder"=dword:00000002 <------ default was "1"
@="Phone: Unknown Caller" <----- Default was "Incomming Call"
"Options"=dword:80000000
"Wave"="\\Windows\\Ring-Innovation.wma"
"Duration"=dword:00000001

these both show in the Sounds and Notifications.

then i navigated too:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\KnownCallerR ing0]

this key allows you to set a ringer for Known Callers that do not have a custom ringer set already in yoru contacts. it was empty so p populated it like this

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\KnownCallerR ing0]
"Sound"="\Windows\Ring-WindowsMobile.wma"
"Category"="Ring"
"Script"="apw3r"

The "Unknown Caller" ringer ringer settings are located here:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\RingTone0]
"Sound"="\Windows\Ring-Birds2.wma"
"Category"="Ring"
"Script"="apw3r"

So the problem is. under "Sounds and Notifications" if i change the ringer in one they both change ( both known and unknown callers are still pointing to RingTone0)

now i know that KnownCallersRing0 sets the ring for people in your contacts because i have tested it and it does work. the issue is that i cannot get the Notification "Key" to map back to
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\KnownCallerR ing0] rather then
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\RingTone0].

(in simple terms, Known caller and unknown caller map back to the same ringer style and sounds and they shouldn't be. i cannot get the "know Caller" setting to go to KnownCallerRinger0 Via "sounds and Notifications" even though this working you have to change your ringer via reg edit and i want to be able to do it in "sounds and Notifications")

Any one have some insight?

Thumbs up Re: Ringtones for Known and Unknown Callers

Guys...

I have been using a program called PhotoContacts Pro that allows for that functionality. It also allows to ignore or send unknow calls directly to voice mail.

A bit over kill for the job but it will do what you need it to do.

Rob.

Re: Ringtones for Known and Unknown Callers

Have you tried searching the registry for "RingTone0" to see if you find anything relevant?

Re: Ringtones for Known and Unknown Callers

@ Juggalo - So it will work if we do it via regedit, however it is changing both Known and Unknown via the Sounds and Notifications control applet? If that is the case, can you tell me what I have to change in the reg to get the functionality temporarily, until we can get it working in the Sounds and Notifications applet?

Also, did you ever get a reg dump from one of our fellow geekers from a Mogul? If not, I have a friend in Texas who can (and happliy will) get us one...
