An issue has been identified where the HTC Diamond could lose access to Internal Storage after the Settings->System->Clear Storage application is executed. This is the result of a manufacturing issue and was corrected in production 10/24/08. Quote:
in the interim the patch should be avail from HTC site and/or Sprint Service Stores Error 10 in device manager is a resource conflict/error.

Re: Major problem with Internal Storage on HTC Diamond
I've been having this problem for a while and just figured out how to do it. Somebody posted that if your computer hangs when trying to right click on the drive via My Computer you should try via command prompt. Here is the single line of code I used to get mine working.
In command prompt: format d: /q/u Replace "d" with whatever letter your drive is. |

Re: Major problem with Internal Storage on HTC Diamond
Just got my phone and had the old "Mass Storage Cannot Be Accessed" error. I'm 90% done formatting w/windows but it's taking forever... If this doesn't work I'll try doing it from a dos prompt. I'm glad I remembered seeing the htc hotfix for this. This should probably be stickied...or is it? Thanks fellow ppcgeeks members!
Edit: Formating from the dos prompt is what worked for me...

Re: Major problem with Internal Storage on HTC Diamond
I had same problem as everyone.
In WinXP I could get the drive to show up in "My Computer" (as the J: drive)... but right-clicking always made the "My Computer" window go "Not Responding" and I wouldn't get my contect menu options to attempt a format. So I opened a command prompt and type "format j:"... and then waited 5 minutes... and it worked! Had to rename "Internal Storage2" to "Internal Storage" like everyone else. |

Re: Major problem with Internal Storage on HTC Diamond
I had this problem and put the solution under a different post called "Sprint PictureMail" since that is how I learned of it.....Copied and Pasted from that thread below is what fixed it on my phone and have had no problems since....
FIXED! So here was the issue: I had to use command prompt to reformat internal storage. I could send PictureMail but could not receive it due to my phone no longer seeing the Internal Storage as a internal storage drive and rather just a folder. After I went into command prompt and "format e:" on my computer (e: of course being the drive that my phone shows up as when I connect it to my computer) it formatted properly. Using File Explorer I copied the contents of the Internal Storage folder into the new correct Internal Storage2 DRIVE (has a little icon of a disk on the folder) and then deleted the original Internal Storage folder. Soft-Reset and the folder will be gone and the Internal Storage2 Drive will now be the proper Internal Storage Drive (named properly without the "2" at the end). Now I can send and receive pictures as normal. Hopefully this message helps anyone with the issue as I have heard a lot of people had it. |

Re: Major problem with Internal Storage on HTC Diamond
I had similar problem. After using Picture mail my internal storage was renamed to internal storage2. Using Total Commander I renamed the internal storage to Junk and renamed Internal Storage2 to Internal Storage. Did a soft reset and it stayed.

Re: Major problem with Internal Storage on HTC Diamond
This is what i did after i used the clear storage option.Im here to teach the solution to the stupid problem with the htc diamond 4g storage.I found it in different forums on the web since HTC or Sprint (NYSE: S) doesnt have knowlegde of its own products and just sell them as it is and claim that they have good customer service.Ridiculous.I was just about to go crazy with this problem once my phone was brand new and it lost the internal storage after a hard reset.
Ok follow this. 1.connect your phone to the pc and choose the disk drive option instead of active sync.Open the computer folder and u should see only one option as as external drive or something like it. 2.right click on the folder and see its properties.U should be able to see that it istill has its 3.7g memory showing. If not u will see it on the next topic. 4.Right click on the storage folder and choose the option FORMAT. 5.U will do the full format of that storage not the quick one.On this level u should see on the format window that the 3.7 g is there right? 6.If not disconnect the phone and connect to the pc again till u see it. Is just unbeliavable that we as costumers have to come up with the solutions for these stupids issues.SHAME on u SPRINT and HTC. 7.Once u start formating it will take about 10 to 15 min to finish.Dont touch your phone till it ends, just leave it connected to the pc. 8.Once is done u go to check where u usually saw the NOT INSTALLED stupid message and find out that the 4g is back.It should be ,if not soft reset your phone.Or start over. 9.Its not over yet.It will show internal memory 2 now and on the device information on your phone it still not reconize the 4g on the internal storage list on HARDWARE.its ok for now. 10.Now u will perform the HARD RESET on your phone using the clear storage option on settings.Pick the Clear storage and format internal storage option before typing 1234.Ok now once u started the hard reset it shows a quick error message as unable to locate storage or something like it.Dont worry about it. Once the phone start up again go to the device information and see it is back to normal and there is not internal storage2 anymore ,only internal storage. Now u are back in business again.I hope this information helped u and i thank the guys who discovered it.Not the HTC or SPRINT who didnt know how to fix this.BIG SHAME and please come up with the new ROM already so u dont get people wasting their time with stupid issues. See u..... i found this solution give credit to the original poster. Last edited by gameover; 02-25-2009 at 03:32 PM. |

Re: Major problem with Internal Storage on HTC Diamond
Hi everyone,
I am very disappointed as I couldn't fix the storage 4GB. When I tried to copy some music via pc windows explorer, it blocked and so I restarted the PC, then access to memory 4GB was not possible via USB connection. Then I tried to format the same way of formating a flash memory... and everything gone! I copied the hotfix file into the device via activsync file explorer but when I click on setup it shows this error message: "Incorrect Device, Please use the correct device to install this hotfix program". I can't understand this, I have HTC Diamond (P3700), so what's wrong?? I also tried formating by cmd, when format is finished with no error message, still the memory is gone!! I can see the drive letter (H in my computer) but no access, nor from the device itself. Thanks a lot for your help. |
