Sprint Diamond New plan or original plan

I'm wondering what plan are you guys going to go with for your diamond. I currently have a touch, and my plan is pretty sick. 1500 minutes, unlimited text messaging, mobile to mobile, nights starting at 7 p.m A. and unlimited incoming calls and unlimited data for $47 plus tax.

I call to order my diamond, the Sprint rep told me that I cannot keep that plan with the diamond that I had to get a new plan, that cost $100. I asked why, he told me that the diamond is more advanced than the touch.
I don't know a lot about phones, but that just doesn't sound right to me.
I thought the touch and the diamond had comparable features one is just faster than the other with more storage. that's like upgrading your computer and your Internet provider telling you that you have to buy a more extensive Internet package.

I really want the diamond, but I can't see myself spending over $50 a month more if I have to change my plan. is anyone else going through this with Sprint or are they letting you keep your original plan

thanks

Wow this could be a killer for many people... If they are doing this for the DIAMOND they will certainly do it for the pro as well, this is horrible if true I just got on Sero $50 plan couple months ago. I refuse to double my monthly fee to get the new phones.

Re: Sprint Diamond New plan or original plan

The only requirement ont he Diamond that I have ever heard of is to have the $25 data plan, or a plan including data... to get the mail in rebates. Otherwise however there are no retrictions any different from getting a Palm/Mogul/Touch/Blackberry/Ace/etc.

I don't see why getting the Daimond should affect your plan. It still uses Rev A. Capabilities is still the same as Touch or Mogul.

and all in all, its STILL a pocket pc. so if they put that into effect on the diamond, they had better do it for EVERY other sprint branded ppc/smartphone. i think some reps are being misinformed

That BS! that rep doesn't know what he his doing. Without a contract you should be able to get the phone and extend the contract and keep your current plan without affecting it, b/c the phone are similar....and technically your swapping a damn phone (esn swap) I use to work for them and still deal with them...it BS. If someone else tells you the same thing ask to speak to a manager and let them u refuse to change your plan. Your plan is sick, so sometime to get people off of them they tell them that.

Re: Sprint Diamond New plan or original plan

the only phone you have to have everything plan for is the instinct, and that didnt have to be the 99$ everything. i had the everything family which was 750 shared for both plus unlimited every thing for the other line. still shareing 750 min both lines. when i got my diamond i could have gotten any plan. hope this is clear. of course sprints pushing 99$ everything plan.

Re: Sprint Diamond New plan or original plan

Are they saying every diamond has to be on the $100 plan, or just if you are getting a discount and extending your contract?

I would think absolute worst case scenario (which I'm sure you don't want to do) is to wait a few months and then buy a Diamond on eBay. Right now you would have to pay a premium, but eventually the price should come down to be more in line with Sprint's.

They should be able to add a new phone to your existing contract.
