Okay so what's the trick to get gmail working?

Okay... I can't get gmail to work on my phone for NOTHING!
I have been through every step and read all I can find on the internet and I have the IMAP enabled in gmail and I even tried it with POP.

Can someone write something up telling me the steps you took to get your gmail working on your phone?? I would really like to have my email forwarded to my phone and have not been able to accomplish this as of yet for some reason ha ha. Thanks

Yes I do, My GPS, internet, WiFi EVERYTHING on the phone works perfectly but the built in mail accounts. I have tried setting it up exactly the way gmail says to and I have tried numerous methods I found on the internet and nothing works. It just won't send or receive at all.

That's strange, i just put in my ID and PW and it's added automatically to the UI. I use OMJ or extra clean sense 2.5.

If you're using IMAP Gmail, as opposed to POP, you'll have to "trick" the Outlook Mail configuration process into offering up the settings options for an IMAP4 mail server (which aren't readily available otherwise). That's done by entering an obviously invalid email address (such as "g@g") when the setup asks for your full email address. After that, you'll enter the IMAP4 server name (imap.gmail.com), the SMTP server name (smtp.gmail.com), and check the box to send user name and password for authentication with outgoing mai

Been there and done it several times. Any other suggestions? Thanks though

I've never had that problem, but it's been forecver since I tried to set it up on a stock rom. I use Sense 2.5 and it has Gmail as one of the pre configured mail clients when you select to add an account. I do know thta google has been having some issues this week with the mobile gmail push in exchange. Maybe they're having Imap issues as well?

Two choices:



1. Download the Gmail app:

Different versions available, I am currently using the OM 5 + Gmail 2.6 combo cab.

2. Use a cooked ROM. OMJs is good, I prefer an offshoot of OMJs, the PMD HTC Sense 2.5 with Live TV tab:

Gmail is one of the preconfigured selects in the Mail area, so it is guaranteed to work with Gmail just fine. Mine works like a charm.

Hey thanks I'm gonna try that and see if it works cause the ROM that I normally use is an older 6.1 ROM that works great and is fast as you know what but I can't get gmail working. Thanks
