I guess I'm interested to know what Windows Mobile phones from a CDMA perspective (Sprint) exist that are going to give me a processor upgrade and presumably RAM, ROM, etc. upgrade over the Diamond?

Even though the TP2 uses the same processor, but even the stock rom is smooth and more responsive than my diamond from the little time I played with a TP2 in the store. The biggest thing those '160' pixels get you is the ability to use the newest HTC packages. Everything new is made for WVGA, and we have to get most of it ported to VGA before we can use it on our diamonds. I'd love to be able to dump a leo ROM and just use many of the packages from it to make my ROM. Instead, I end up with a decent VGA sense 2.5 port (but a version or 2 behind the latest) and getting to play with xml's to make them fit my scrreen and things the haven't been ported to vga (like htcalbum). The TP2 also has newer drivers for it than our Diamonds. HTCVolumeControl works now with WM 6.5.x on the TP2, but doesn't work on older devices like our Diamonds or the Blackstone. The only thing different between the ROMs is that the TP2 has different OEMDrivers/XIP, so it must be something in there preventing us from using HTCVolumeControl on our phones.

Alas, I don't want a brick in my pocket...so I'm staying with my Diamond for now.

Re: okay....i think you guys can agree with me on this

+1 on everything you've guys said....i appreciate it

its just really troubling to see all these amazing phones and all this great news go eveerywhere but sprint....even verizons getting in on the action.

i was disapointed heavily when the hd2 went over to tmobile...however i was convinced another phone was gonna come our way, maybe the diamond 3, but nope still it seems like nothing promising, at least in the near future.

i keep contemplating wether i should just suck it up and get the tp2...
like one user here said, at least we can load it up with actually wvga files like sense and what not....
butt to spend another 300+ dollars for a phone thats uglier and bulkier than the diamond, i just cant see a reason

my diamond is still working beautifully, and thanks to our community who can still keep this old phone kicking with the latest files

but theres only so much makeup you can put on a pig to mask its flaws now. It's old and just needs to retire; Theres just nothing to replace it with.

as sad as it is to say this....but i think sprint needs to realize that its the actual cell phones that get and keep customers, i honestly don't know if its service anymore. Verizon i feel is the only other good carrier with good reception....in my mind ATT and Tmobile have horrible reception, yet at least ATT is one of the leaders cause it lands hott good cell phones TMO does a good job with phones as well.

Our biggest "exclusive" cell phone...prob the palm pre biig woop

the competitors? well you already know what "exclusive" phones they got...cough Iphone cough HD2

Re: okay....i think you guys can agree with me on this

Hey, hasseye - I'm not trying to be arguementative, but for the most part, it seems like you are disappointed that Sprint isn't picking up GSM phones. The phones that go to T-Mobile, who is a GSM carrier, are GSM phones which are not compatible with CDMA. Sprint is a CDMA carrier.

Which Windows Mobile CDMA is on the street now that looks interesting ... and has a compelling reason to upgrade ... ie processor, ram or rom upgrade and not just a few extra pixels of screen real-estate?

Best regards,
-boggsie

While this is true, if Sprint wanted to have a CDMA HD2, then they would need only call up HTC and order it. Radios can be switched out, and everyone knows that carriers order customized phones for their network. Just look at the Touch Pro 2. All the major carriers have it, and each one of them is different. Same goes for the Hero. Look at the unlocked version

and then look at the Sprint version
.
Completely different look and radio, but the same phone.

It's not the phone companies keeping these great devices from us, it's Sprint making the decision to move toward Android and WebOS. And so far it seems that they have not heard from enough people to make a difference in their decision making process.

Re: okay....i think you guys can agree with me on this

Sprint is busy with WiMax strategy. Part of that strategy is milking us for every penny they can before subsidizing pricey WiMax handsets. Still, I'm so happy with what the cooks have done with Diamond ROMs that I'm in no rush to leave.

Those HD2s are a little too big for my liking anyway.

Re: okay....i think you guys can agree with me on this

great....so the tmobile htc hd2 just gott a spec boost compared to the europiean version. A record breaking amount of ram in the device and more rom, and a 16gb sd card included....

why couldnt sprint of given us that glory...

looks like we just gotta wait, hopefully sprint will give us something good....unless maybe there waiting for windows 7 to be released instead of releasing good specs with a sub par OS....
