Re: Sprint Touch Diamond 2

Currently an alltel soon to be verizon customer and my contract ends febuary 2010 and i will say without hesitation that if the HD2 comes out around that time i will gladly switch carriers to have it.

Maybe Sprint will get it - that would explain their silence on the TD2. But, no matter, if not Sprint, then I'll switch to whomever carries it.

I'll send a message to Sprine e-Care asking about it, and telling them that this is the phone that will cause me to take my 10+ year, $200/mo, multi-line private account elsewhere. (Not that I expect "Chad" in the Phillipines call center to care...)
Ha ha ha ha so true with the chad thing but they say that the c/s is better now i dont know about that yet lol but good one. But on the touch hd 2 is it really possible to get it on sprint before 2010 cause i dont even think its dropped over sea's yet.

Re: Sprint Touch Diamond 2

Willysp got a question, or anyone else that can answer this. Is the reason why it's not expected for the htc touch hd2 to not go to verizon, or at&t because, since they already have the htc pure and imagio, would they be under contract to sell a certain amount of those phones before they can get any other htc phones to sell? Because technically, I gotta believe that verizon customers know that the hd2 is about to come out in 2010, and will probably hold off on getting them other phones. This would in term, possibly cut into sales, of the pure and the imagio. So, basically, is that how it works? Confirm or deny!

Yes - actually customer service has improved a lot in the last few years! I'm actually satisfied with it now.

The CEO of HTC today said that the HD2 in 3G form will be in the US in Q1 2010. So, definitely NOT before 2010. It's pure speculation as to what carrier(s) will get it.

Speculation is that yes, Verizon and AT&T wouldn't get it first since they've already invested in the TD2 and don't want competing phones in their portfolios. Don't think it has anything to do with contracts with HTC.

I hope the reason that Sprint has been silent on the TD2 is because they're planning on the HD2. But, who knows?

This is not entirely true. I believe holding off on buying a new phone depends on several variables. My contract is nearing renewal so I will wait and see what's coming. If I had just purchased a new phone or still had a year left on contract, I probably would not be willing to buy a new phone (or terminate my contract and jump to another carrier to get one). Since no one knows where the HD2 will go when it comes to the US or what features it will support, pinning all one's hopes on the proverbial "bird in the bush" may not prove wise.

So far there is no word from HTC whether the HD2 will be upgraded to WinMo 7 (short of flashing a cooked ROM). Also, US phones are usually "crippled" by the carriers in some way relative to their European counterparts. The HTC HD2 phone we are drooling about now may not be the same phone that lands in the US. Anyone with a cell phone knows there is always another better phone "just a few months away". One can't wait forever. All except hard-core cell phone users will buy whatever is available now.

Hey, that's a valid point you got there. The question is, to wait, or not to wait. That is the question!

Re: Sprint Touch Diamond 2

I actually wanted the Hero. My friend got his hands on one (journalist for tech mag) and convinced me on it. However, it looks like I'd have to upgrade my plan (to an Everything Data that costs more and gives me nothing over my currrent plan) so that pretty much kills the idea. A whitestone would've satisfied me since I'm a premier customer (yearly upgrades) and I've been sitting on my upgrade credit for over 3 months already. But now that there's a chance the HD2 may come out, I'll definitely wait it out. Even with the rumors of the a whitestone dropping around November, I think we'd know a bit more about the HD2 by then anyway.

I'm getting a hero next week, stock permitting. Since I'm a premier customer, I get an upgrade every 12 months, anyway, so if something great comes out 12 months from now, I'll get that.
