Re: Alltel ppc6700 Users here

I have a couple of questions for all us tech heads out there.

First: Where do you get the WM 6.0 upgrade? So far every link I've tried has been dead. I would absolutely _love_ to upgrade my ppc 6700 from 5.0. Can this be saved to/done from my SD card (see below).

Second: The USB port on my phone broke. (Literally one day after the warranty expired....) Sometimes I can 'jiggle magic' that sucker to get a connection. This has allowed me to make one last sync before I upgrade to the 6800. But I'd rather not do that just yet. $300 is a bit much to plunk down for a new phone, ESPECIALLY since I'm thinking of switch to ATnT (they have the tilt! Anyone have a comparison viewpoint to the PPC 6800)?. Has anyone else ever had this problem. Viewpoints on taking the sucker apart and trying to superglue the port back on. (I'm reminded of that Redneck joke- If you can't fix the problem with a hammer....You have an electrical problem...)This is especially frustrating since this is obviously how you recharge the phone as well. I've been battery swapping every day and that gets old real quick. I also have to transfer files via pulling my SD card out -> putting it in a USB reader -> putting it back in the phone. Also old and doesn't work for things that don't change format. (music, pdf files, etc.)

Thanks world!

Re: Alltel ppc6700 Users here

I had a block code set on my account from before my smart choice plan they never took off... once they removed that all I had to do was reset my MDN and MSID #'s and it fixed the password issue also!

This worked for my Alltel PPC 6700...

I suggest calling 1800ALLTEL1 to get instructions on how to access these numbers, cause im an extreme n00b and cant remember how to get to them.. i had to dial #000000 or something.. i cant recall... but that worked for me and it solved the:

1. Modem disconnecting error message (By removing the block code)
2. Password/Username incorrect error message (By changing the MDN and MSID #'s)

I have the same phone (Sprint) and have flashed it over to Alltel. I have experimented and got my data working pretty good - however it is NOT as reliable as the data on my Q has been. I seem to be seeing some DNS issues.

Do any of you guys have access to QPST (I do) and if so, can we discuss what we have tried (in terms of programming) and hopefully resolve this?

I am wondering - does *228, option 3 do this (MDN & MSID)? Once I had the MSL set to 000000, I can access OTA programming... I am assuming that those parameters were set then.

In general it should. The Program code ##000000 if you want to set it manually, but Option 3 should work.

Re: Alltel ppc6700 Users here

I'm totally new to the PPC scene. I just bought my UTStarcom 6700 and want to know how I can put WM6.1 on it. It is for Alltel (duh, why would I be posting here if it wasn't). Anyway, where can I find an already cooked WM6.1 ROM?
