I'm confused. Won't hitting the notes button, the power button and then soft reseting (all at the same time) place your phone in boot loader mode? No need for usb to do that. it works for me anyways.
He was more or less referring to the BootLoader bug that takes that program to fix... If only there was a way to get a program to Create that bug... I wouldnt have to worry about a sprint rep seeing my custom boot screen and wondering what I personally could have done to f*** up my phone... When really its not my fault at all the USB plug is hosed...

My wife's PPC-6700 had a dodgy USB connection (wouldn't charge or sync unless played with a lot.. it was on its way out.)

Took it to the local (well, 40 mile away) Sprint store. They swapped it out for a brand new one an hour later, no questions asked. TEP is great. Between us we've had 3 new phones in the past year

that usb port goes out all the freakin time.

its a simple solder job if you have any skill with a solder gun... there are four points that hold the usb port down, use a pinpoint solder gun, heat the point, and push down hard, the metal should be hot enough to re-heat the solder connectors and recreate your connection.

we fix this issue at my store all the time, just be careful to not melt the board while you do it (hence the pinpoint solder tip).

from personal experience if you want to lock-up your phone in boot loader mode, just AS via BT and start a rom update. even a hard reset had it coming back in boot loader mode for me.

lol Yeah Id figure a BT connection would be a bad way to update a rom... Never would have guessed that it could cause the bootloader bug though...

Anyways, Im running it into my store this morning before work because they open one hour before my shift... Im just gonna give them my work number if they need to keep it and play around for a while...

(I dont think a quick solder job of the connection points will do, it looks like the whole USB would need to be replaced, although Im sure if they have a tech on hand, Wouldn't be too hard for them to do...)
