"UseJointStereo"=dword:1
I'll just say that this always gives me duel mono instead of stereo audio... I don't know what that says about my phone or whatever but those have been my results. I can only get stereo by entering "0" there.

It also gives me a hiss and it garbles a lot of the high notes... so 1 definitely is bad for me... but that's just been my experience with original rom and the one I flashed recently.

Thanks for listing your reg hacks

The reason I'd like to make my own is that I'd change a few things in there... for example I like big fat scroll bars so I can use my fingers on them... or if the pointer gets out of calibration which happens about once every other day or so... I hate that by the way... they need to make a touch sensor that doesn't need to be re-calibrated all the time.

I've been playing with that myself, probably should be 0. I was going for what gives me the best signal on my S9s. The possible values seem to be 0, 1 and 2, but I'm still fuzzy on the differences. And none of them force Audible to play in both ears for the mono signal rather than just the left. In truth, since my new job doesn't allow Bluetooth signals on site, I've mostly moved back to a wired headset anyway.

And fat scrollbars, ick. In fact, in my personal ROM I've even gone further and dropped them to 6 instead of 8.That's about as small as I can get them and still hit them reliably with a stylus. More often than not, though, I just scroll with the dpad or the record button, which I have mapped to "scroll down".

ah, well I hate the d pad... the design could learn a lot from game controllers.

It sticks out so far that it's easy to clip on objects... but not far enough out to get really good leverage on it... so worst of both worlds. A flatter and wider d pad would be a lot more useful.

I mostly use it in the car, so I can't really be playing around with the stylus like that. I also never web browse with it. Anyway... I have my scroll bars set to about 18... not that much beyond default but enough to hit it with your finger even if the calibration is a little off.

Why does your work forbid bluetooth? Wifi inference? I've never heard of anyone banning bluetooth.

also, for music players... Mortplayer is my personal favorite. I've seen nothing with as many features for playing audio on the PPC. It does everything very well... even audio books... While the program is open the camera button is mapped to the bookmark function for example. It has excellent car skins as well. Giant buttons positioned in corners so you don't even need to look at the screen.

Yeah, we have WiFi throughout the building, and I think Bluetooth interferes with it. Damn overcrowded 2.4GHz band...

I use HTC Audio Manager almost exclusively for music and podcasts, Audible for audiobooks. Audio Manager has all the advantages of WMP, a better UI and uses so much less RAM. Also ties into the HTC Home plugin for control from the Today screen, which Mortplayer or Pocket Player (my previous favorite) won't do.

We do it here too for security reasons... No WiFi either, but we are allowed EVDO...

As far as preloading a lot of software, I'm a former developer and know all too well how software conflicts can grow exponentially. I load as little as I can, but enough to meet my needs. I also tune the registry entries to make everything run smoothly. Here's what I have added to the core on my personal build, marked by a (JK) for OEMs I made myself:

Office 2007
Audible (JK)
Internet Sharing
Mobile PostIt (WordPress blog editor)(JK)
PdaNet (JK)
HTC Audio Manager
HTC Camera
eReader (JK)
HTC Streaming Media
TCPMP 0.71 with YouTube extensions (JK)
1-Calc lite, modified
HandyShopper (JK)
Live Search 2.0
acb Power Meter
SKTools (JK)
Phone Codes
Stowaway keyboard
WM5torage
Spb Backup 1.6.1
All Mobile Mines
Bejeweled 1.0 (JK)
Chess
Kevtris
PocketDice (JK)
SpaceTrader (JK)
Dictionary Editor
ExtROM unlock
PocketHosts
6-tab HTC Home Plugin (modified with different default icons and background)
10-button Comm Manager
and last, my performance tweaks
Does that Office2007 work on the Apache? And does the Outlook have HTML email?

Yes, Office 2007 works great on the Apache. I love being able to work with .docx files, they're so much smaller, leaner and more resilient than the old binary .doc files.

Keep in mind, though, that Office Mobile is just Word, Excel and Powerpoint. This does not update Outlook to the WM6 version, so HTML email and Exchange search (alas) are still missing.
