I've been having that issue for ages - including with Bell's default ROM. So its not a BigJ issue per-se, however perhaps he can fix it cause its friggin' annoying.

Here is the issue. If I soft reset my phone, all MMS messages goto the ThreadedSMS application. Video messages come in as only pics, so I cannot get the video. Pictures seem to work mostly.

If I open up the other MMS program (inside of Outlook) and then leave it open then all MMS messages will now come to that inbox and I can view all pix and flix messages just fine.

Other than opening the other MMS application after every soft reset (poutlook is already in the startup section, but this workaround doesn't work until I manually open it up and it shows in the task manager) is there a way to force MMS to outlook and bypass the ThreadedSMS application?

Thanks
Wow, you are light years ahead of me bro. I can't get MMS messaging to work AT ALL. How are you doing this? Are you using the data service or something???

2 install the p-sms as a cab file and soft reset, that will overwrite the rom settings and change them to that of the cab install.
Hi,

Given that it worked fine on v.1.0 of your ROM, and the fact that I've tried it on two different phones on the same carrier (Bell) I'm thinking that something has changed between v1.0 and other newer ROM releases. Perhaps Bell sends SMS messages in a certain way that whatever was changed after v1.0 of your ROM is no longer compatible?

I can try to troubleshoot this myself - if there's a way to see the raw SMS source somewhere in the filesystem? Would be nice to see the raw source rather than it just giving up and saying "Cannot be displayed".

Also, I wasn't able to try your manually installing p-sms cab since I don't know what or where this is.

**UPDATE**

I solved it. Simply unchecking MMS and ThreadedSMS in BuildOS doesn't work. I had to manually blow away the dirs from the OEM directory.

Still kinda curious on what changed in MMS or TSMS from v1.0 to now. But hey, its working in old-school mode so I guess who cares.

mcastleberg,

I didn't have to do anything radical to get MMS to work as long as I don't use the threadedSMS application to do it. I actually found that tmail.exe was the application I needed to intercept the MMS, so I added that to the startup folder and as long as that is an open program, it will intercept all MMS messages and SMS will still goto threadedSMS. Seems to work. If you can't get it to work after that I'll have to defer to the experts on this forum, as I just got my PPC two weeks ago

However that created a couple other questions:

1) Can I start a program minimized after a soft reset instead of maximized (I know, all I need to do is tap the X, but it would be nice to just have tmail come up in the background)?

2) The Camera App still seems to want to use threadedSMS as its MMS app. So when I take a picture, instead of sending from the camera, I have to exit, then bring up tmail and create a new MMS message. Is there a way to override the setting in the camera to point it to tmail instead of threadedSMS?

Thanks,

Anasazi

can you pm what exactly you did to roll back to 1.0 version, because all the other threaded sms apps are garbage.

Anyone notice a large reduction in battery life and overall slowness with this ROM and the 1.41 radio update?

By large reduction in battery life, I'm talking about at least a 3 hour reduction in life. I have ActiveSync set to sync on item arrival with our Exchange server, but I did before as well.

The only application other than ActiveSync which should be making a data connection is the weather plugin which I changed to update every hour and I saw no better battery life.

On a typical day, I pull my phone off the charger at 8am, I might make 5-15 minutes of phone calls all day, about 20 or so txt's, the ActiveSync and bluetooth enabled...that's the extent of my usage. With the old ROM, I was able to get about 12-13 hours of life out of the battery. With this ROM, I'm averaging about 8-9 hours.

Everything else is default in the ROM, no other apps installed. Were there any changes to the BlueTooth stack? Maybe it's killing battery life?

I also notice that overall the phone feels pretty slow and typing a txt or email is horrible. I have to be very deliberate with each letter I type in, pausing between letters to make sure that the input is accepted. With Sar's PR6 ROM that I had on before, it took input almost as fast as I could enter it with only an occasional missed letter. Now I'm getting whole words missing if I type my normal speed.

Any ideas on what could be going on?

i can revert back to my older MMS package, seemed to work better for most people and it has the camera dialog hacked in to use arcsoft as the default.

anyways, thanks for the feedback, i should hopefully have some time to roll a release out with the new kitchen before i leave on vacation next week, if not end of august when i get back ill get something out.

Hi,
Thanks for the great work on this rom, I've used several versions of it.

This time though something different happened. When I synch to my pc and get my mail, calendar appointments and so forth it appears the synch works. My appointments appear on the today screen. I cant find the link in the start menu (as was there on previous versions) to be able to launch either program. By the way if I click on the appointment on the today screen the calendar app launches fine so i know it is there somewhere.
