Re: VX6700 Stuck On "align screen"...
Just to clarify; a "hard reset" is literally just taking out the battery, putting it back in, and turning on the ppc. Right?

Re: VX6700 Stuck On "align screen"...
no a hardreset is when you press both soft keys( they have the - on them ) and then press in the soft reset button with the stylus then press Y on the keyboard.

While it does help to know what a hard reset is, it still didn't fix my problem. But thanks for letting me know!

Re: VX6700 Stuck On "align screen"...
I've had this happen, is the alignment icon (the cross on the screen) moving after you touch it? If it is, make sure you set it with the stylus, not your fingernail, and what usually works for me is to kind of brace my hand with my pinky while I press on the crosshair, aiming for the middle as best you can. Screen protectors can also sometimes mess up its alignment, normally it takes one shot and I'm done, with the protector on it sometimes takes up to 3. Odd thing, my qwest apache never cared if it had a protector on the screen, only my sprint seems to.

Re: VX6700 Stuck On "align screen"...
Try hard resetting a couple of times. If that doesn't help yopu might try flashing a stock carrier ROM and starting over. It should respond to a hard reset though. That would get you back to where it was when first flashed. Another off the wall thing that it could possibly be is lint around the edge of the screen. Apaches are notorious for collecting lint between the screen frame and the digitizer and it will cause touchscreen misfires. Get a buisness card and run it around all of the edges of the screen. It should go in about 1/8" and clear any gook that has built up. I had this problem with my Apache and thought it was toast, hard reset 5 or 6 times, and saw a post here about it (2 years ago) and that's what saved it. Hope it helps ya.

Re: VX6700 Stuck On "align screen"...
pio_masaki - The crosshairs are moving after I touch them, and I have tried numerous times to be as accurate as I can with the stylus. Also, I am not using a screen protector. After I hard reset the phone and try to align the screen, after each round (touching the 5 different positions) the first couple of times the screen goes white for a second like it wants to take me to the home screen.
guitardoc64 - I did have a lot of dust and crap inside the edges, and I got it all out like you said with a business card, but still I'm not getting anywhere. Also, I don't know what it means to flash a stock carrier ROM. Could you give me some steps if it's not too time consuming? One other thing: When you say to "hard reset 5 or 6 times" when should I hard reset again? 1. When I get the Verizon Screen with the following info: H/W=2 P SNAZ-40306 M=12 R 1.43.00 U=4 D 3.14.30 WWE 2. When I get the Windows Mobile "Tap the screen to set up your Windows Mobile-based device." screen? 3. Or when I get to the align screen? Thank you all for your help so far! |

Link to stock ROM. Others are available here on the FTP. Use the Qlinks tab. If it won't get past the alignment, something's wrong, either in software or hardware. I'm betting software because you said it was all working before you tried to clear out the contacts. Try a couple more times to hard reset before you give up and do not flash the 3.3 from the above link except as a last resort. Use the 2.2 update instead. |
