Does anyone reading this know of a way I can QUERY that information and have it auto-put it in there.... or wich cab file SPECIFICALLY in your ext.rom puts that in? If i knew the cab i have a dirty little trick i can do on the next build to get that to go in an OEM package.

Thanks for the feedback, it looks good so far and that makes me happy!

Customize_105201.sa.CAB - Installs files and makes Registry settings:
Setup Proxy for Data Network
Setup Data Network (#777)
Add 2 VZW Certificates.
VZW default home page for Browser
Copy epst2.epst into \Windows (Activation Wizard data file?)
Remove Windows Media link from start menu
Add Phone Settings help htm to \Windows
Add Downloads link to start menu (handango)
Add network service settings
Add Handango to Favorites
Add TTY Mode settings to Services
Set version (overwritten later) "1.05.201 WWE"
Modify reg entries under HKCU\Control Panel\PhoneExtentFunction\CDMA:
Set Call Forwarding disabled
Set Call Waiting disabled
Set SMS disabled
Set Internet disabled
Set Bcsms disabled
phone # setup:

Enable SMS Delvery Ack
Enable SMS Recv Time Stamp
Set HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\P3\Enable to 1
Set HKLM\Services\WirelessMgr\MutexFlag to 1 (the hated MUTEX - reset later)
Location Phone Services setup
Keylock Enable? (HKLM\HARDWARE\OEM\KEYBRD\Keylock=1)

Obviously alot of the above is junk, but the first few entries should do the trick I believe....[/quote]

That is actually an impressive list, the ## numbers stickout for me. Do we need to run this cab seperately? I know #3328873 - EPST ##3328873 hasn't worked for me in the past.i guess i need to check and see if it is working now.

I dont use every inch of my phone but everything that I do use from this rom works great. Since you fixed the text prob I have been running since the day 1.1 came out. Thanks for a great ROM I dont even need to cook my own. 1 i dont know how to so I'll keep J running until further notice maybe when the 6800 comes out or what ever you may call the phone. thanks

ya the file explorer is trying to cache all the icons. if you just give it time, when its done cahe'ing the files it will fire back up so dont click around.

Your best bet is to go into OPTIONS - GENERAL - 3rd TAB BROWSER and check off to HIDE FILES IN ROM and HIDE HIDDEN FILES and HIDE FILES WITH THESE EXTENSIONS (the top 3 should be checked)

now hit OK and your file exploring should FLY. You really have no reason to look at files in the ROM anyways since you cant move/delete/modify/copy them anyways.

i suppose I can set that up as a default option for the next round but for now your gonna have to do it manually.

:D

- to the jack@ss that cant read, sorry bud, your phone will NEVER vibrate again, stuff like that happens to stupid people. Even if you flash back the stock rom, i permanently disabled your vibrate motor by sending a low level hardware command that formats it so it doesnt drain the battery by going off. I know i should have put something in the F.A.Q. about it but im to lazy and typing stuff to help people resolve problems like this takes to much out of me after a long day of doing nothing but pondering how to screw with people that flash my ROM. I especially like skipping the first page, and the next 6 pages and wasting peoples time by asking questions that have been asked already a few hundred times but hey, thats just me. I ALWAYS skip the FAQ when i do something to my telephone, I never read instructions, hell i threw out the manual on my new power ban-saw and to this day still have no idea how i lost my left pinky finger while i was changing the blades with it still on. I dunno, guess were gonna have to go through life simply not knowing even the simplest of things. We can go togethor, they say ignorance is bliss.... in this case..... ignorance makes your phone not vibrate anymore....

I am a Verizon user and don't need a username/password for the #777 data connection. It works fine with just the #777. Am I missing something? Perhaps it could depend on the area you're in - I know that when EVDO first came out here we did need a username/password, but no more.

I found an interesting bug I think? I get text alerts fine when the SMS app is closed. However, when I leave it open in a threaded conversation, I get the new texts, but no alert telling me they came in.

I am suspect of this, only b/c when I lose data connection I get a box asking for the PW. Could u guys please confirm by giving:

1) location
2) *exactly* which fields u have set to what in your data connection?
3) I will test here in LA as I switch back/forth from 1x to EVDO often. I do know it works when I leave name/pw blank, but Ive lost data connection with it setup both ways...

Thanks!

Yes, that is correct.

Krayziepop 06-17-2007 06:14 PM

I have flashed a couple of times now with the latest version, and I cannot seem to get the Wireless today screen plugin to work anymore. It will display on the today screen, but tapping does nothing. Anybody else have this issue?

Aside from that I have had a couple of lockups after soft resetting. A few soft resets cleared it up though. The only other problem would be the Internet Sharing app still not working - though that is a kitchen bug in general.

chrisoaf 06-17-2007 07:31 PM

Is there anything in this ROM that would cause excessive battery drain? I have been running your various releases for a while now. All of a sudden, my phone has been going from about 70% battery down to 0% and shutting off. Sometimes I can take out the battery and put it back in and it will return to normal for a bit. Is this just my battery going bad? It is a fairly new OEM battery so it seems odd for it to be bad already.

ALL data fields are left blank. I keep the save password (or whatever it says) checked but not sure if that is necessary. I switch back and forth from 1x to EVDO too and it works with no problems.

b/c if u had RTFM u would know the ROM is FULL. dumba$$.

JBabey 06-17-2007 10:23 PM

kk lets play nice haha.

-anyways, CHESS is functioning and you dont need a key, if you do, you prolly did something horribly wrong.

-The Wireless today plugin is glitched. It updates the status, but clicking on it does nothing.... could be a blessing in disguise but defenitely not working in regards to taps. Bizzare, ill flash the kitchen r4 on my phone and see if its broken in there to.

-in regards to the battery... what programs do you have running, which rom are you running, what else have you installed since you flashed. Do you sync to an exchange server, did you leave IM+ on all day or logon to irc.....

-the full o2 suite needs registering if i remember correctly and i didnt see much need for the rest of the suite. Personally i hate todayscreen items. right now i have phonealarm and calendar and thats it.... granted i wish the start menu held just ONE more icon space, or wish there was a hack to disable recent and use up all my space for myself, but my understanding is that hack isnt out yet.
keep in mind the kitchen is available if you would like to add it yourself.

-when you drop vision and it asks for the password just hit save and hit OK, you dont need to put anything in. Thats completely normal functionality of the handset.

-if your earpiece isnt working, time for a new phone, or at least a new speaker. nothing in the rom effects that. The BETA 1.6 version of phonealarm allows all calls to default to speakerphone so you may wanna do that and just talk backwards.... thats what i do, the earpiece is so freakin i cant hear shizzlez on it.

-The bluetooth dropping incoming calls is your headset dude. I tested that today at work with like 6 models and it didnt do that with any of them, buy a new one or get yours exchanged where you bought it.

-Garov55 no offense bro, just saw an opportunity for my funny ban-saw story, you shoulda seen the stories for that question in the 9.6 thread haha. Appreciate you trying to help, sometimes just gotta help yourself first y'know. Thanks for trying my ROM however, The LCD being shut off effects the vibrate function for reasons unknown even to microsoft mobile dev team. (well thats what their blog says anyways....) but having it off gives you roughly 7-9 more hours of standby time, in my opinion its worth the trade-off thats why i have it disabled by default. 90% of the people I have talked to have never put their handset on vibrate anyways, and its a weak vibrate at that. Figured the trade-0ff was there to just have it shut down with instructions on re-enabling it.

-leaving a threaded conversation open will not make an alert. This was a known issue when development of the hack stopped. Just something were gonna have to live with untill someone picks up the development of that application again and is willing to host the work on piratebay or something haha.

-think thats everything, im gonna go ahead and pull those extra vz steps for the dial connection, i had a feeling they werent needed... may just be needed in special situations, but its in the thread on the first page (7) of the topic for this release.

Thanks again guys for your support and helping me create up a bug list for the next release.

lawreaga 06-17-2007 10:55 PM

nope the o2 plus does not need registering. I have it on my phone by following a thread on here which I can't seem to find at the moment. I'm pretty sure I follow every installation step and didn't mess up because it doesn't make sense only chess is not registered. but o wells.

hey fitbryan are you k000's dog? thanx for replying for him you are cool! have you ever thought of BigJ constantly removing and replacing apps that he would make room for it? thank you for RTMFT but you lose in the thinking department.

Yes, that is correct.

Mine asks for the username and password (even if I checked save password during setup) once, but then after that it never does.

Internet Sharing Problem

This new ROM was working great.... until I started using push e-mail which my exchange administrator requires a password to be set on the phone. This appears to be causing a problem w/ the internet sharing program. When I connect, nothing happens. A password request is suppose to come up on the PC, but it doesn't and just sits there until it gives up. I can use wireless modem, but that's no fun! Anybody know of a fix??

it makes no sense, the issue seems to be that activesync wont ask you for a password, not that internet sharing is broken per-se I dunno, i would just "pretend" i have a phone password (lame). are you running the latest activesync?

not that it all matters haha, online sales just got the 6800 available to purchase so looks like i got my rom out just in time for it to be pretty worthless haha.

no way ill upgrade till they got a kitchen though, screw that

I know you are getting a lot of crap from people that don't seem to appreciate you are doing this for fun, I hope I don't seem to be one of them. I have 3 bluetooth headsets, 2 headsets and my car has built in. The calls only drop in my car, and if I flash back to old kitchen roms all three can take calls again. There is nothing wrong with my cars bluetooth, it just must have a profile that isn't fully supported by the new kitchen. If I get around to it today I'll flash over to Colonel or one of the other new kitchen roms and see if the problems are still there.

As an FYI the notifications aren't freezing any more, but they do dismiss themself now.

Zak8022 06-18-2007 09:40 AM

Downloading 1.1 now... will report back later (i probably wont be able to flash until tonight cuz my laptop never runs flashes correctly).

J, thanks for all the awesome work!!

k000 06-18-2007 11:12 AM

Dude - you took too much offense. Please loosen up a bit.

I didn't mean to hit you under the belt with my initial response. The reason I also said you can add it is that the ROM is already pretty packed, and in the past lot of people were having issues with OS2 installed as it is. Not sure if it was J's ROM or Colonel.... but do know that there were quite a few issues.

I don't know fitbryan or you... so no personal attacks ;)

Peace out....

Try VZW as the user, and verizon as the password.

If that works at least the rom can come completely pre-loaded.

Storage Card Issues

Is anyone else having problems with their Storage Card not always showing up? I am using the ROM Kitchen for Sprint; outside of the ROM apps, I have O2Plus and MortPlayer installed. There doesn't seem to be any pattern, but the Storage Card will not be available at times. I have music, videos and email attachments on my SanDisk 2GB card and these items will be suddenly unaccessible. At those times, I go into File Explorer and the Storage Card isn't shown. If I soft reset one or two times the Storage Card will reappear. This has happened several times, so it's doesn't appear to be isolated incidents. I haven't experienced this issue on previous 3.5 ROM's that I've used. Any suggestions?

Thanks again for the otherwise great ROM and for your generous contribution of time & effort.

zenak,
Not sure your probem is the same as mine but my car (Acura TL) was dropping the Bluetooth connection all the time. Found out it was a problem in the BT software and how it handled power management. A quick fix was simply to leave the phone plugged into a car charger and change the power management settings to 'Always on while plugged in.' This leaves the BT radio at full power and keeps the connection solid.

If you're on battery, the phone goes into standby and sometimes shuts off the BT radio by mistake.

Thanks, I don't think this is the case. When my phone gets an incoming call it rings on my car speakers for a half ring, then stops. The phone hand set continues to ring, and I can answer. Once I answer, the phone still thinks it is connected to the car, so the caller can't hear anything until I press the right soft button and then 'Disconnect Bluetooth headset'. After that is done I can talk on the headset, or simply press the 'transfer call' button on my car. The big pain about that button is that is is disabled if the car is moving faster then 5 miles an hour, so I can't always hit it. If I end the call and call the user back the bluetooth is connected and fine.

This has never happened with my other headsets, and doesn't show up in a whole slew of previous roms. I know the bluetooth is very touchy, and I'm guessing that some of the BT-PAN fixes break the profile that my car uses for it's headset. I guess I'll have to play with it and see which setting it is.... My car is a Lexus IS if that matters....

I receive .wav files from my voicemail to my email. When I try to play the attachement, I get the following error:

This has always worked on the other versions of the BigJ ROM. I store attachments to the storage card (which is actually Extended ROM since I don't know how to change it literally to the storage card). I am using the Sprint version (1.1). Nothing else installed. WMP works OK for music saved to my card (although it kind of skips, but I think that relates to my card not being a great card. I have a PQI 2GB).

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Well, i've been running 1.1 all afternoon, and it seems pretty damn cool. I'm still a bit of a noob, so i cant really comment on any changes that were made, other than some obvious ones.

:D

edit: Oh, and i didnt have to enter any Verizon shiz for data conns... I'm in the Maryland area... i'll have to test it out when i travel to Vegas next week. See if area affects it.
