After upgrading to 1.1r I was in your same boat (im on Verizon as well). I read and re-read this post and numerous others to get my sending of mms to function and, you will hate to hear this, I did nothing specific for it to work... just one day at the office my mms outbox was empty. I checked, and sure enough both mms messages I had there had sent. Very odd. I only have SPB Phone suite installed outside of BigJ's goodies. Like I said, if I knew of one specific thing I did, I would post it, but I simply left it alone and 3 days after I installed the 1.1r ROM it worked. Good luck. |

glad you guys are figuring out most of your issues. |
J when I am using your kitchen and I build the os everything works like a charm. When I run create rom.bat towards the end it bombs in XP in the command prompt at the line zuma-arm.exe And then the windows pop up error buildlmgfs.exe has encountered a problem. You can choose debug or close. So I click on close and the cmd prompt says hooray. The NBA file is all there so I covert it and flash. But all I get is a snow looking spash screen and then the second screen that comes up is white with no text. Yay! So I will just flash back to your 1.1r for now. Any clue to get this working?
Fixed rom was too loaded. |

zuma is 1.3 megs, so youll have to remove at least 1.3 megs of programs before checking this one off. I wish there was more room in there man, i really do! (zuma is one of my favorites, i just use a cab though >< ) |
I havne't been able to active-sync with my desktop since installing this rom - has anyone else seen this?
Also - I have gotten a few notification errors when turning on the phone... -mark |

I'm having problems pairing my Motorola HS815 BT headset. It pairs, but shows no services available. I'm using 1.1r. Has anyone else had any problems with their headsets?

I tried the non Sprint build and it almost works. The vibrate mode does not work on my phone, which I need since I am in a lot of meetings. I sync with Outlook on my laptop and got sync errors saying that I didn't have enough room on my phone to complete the sync. So, I tried to build a new rom with less apps from the kitchen, but the BuildOS will not run.
Any ideas... Thanks, Ben |

The first post of this thread tells you which registry edit to make to bring the vibrate mode back. |

DodgeV83,
Thanks for the vibrate info, I though I had seen something about it, I will look for it. But I really want to be able to use the Kitchen (there are too many apps in the prebuilt rom). Has anyone else been able to use the Kitchen? Thanks, Ben |
I have a couple questions about this ROM. I am new to the whole smartphone/pda phone world. From Everything I have read this ROM sounds awesome. I do have a couple questions though that I did not see in this thread. Is there a slide lock app on this ROM or one out there I can install (kinda like the iPhone slide lock) also are there any screenshots of what the theme looks like with this ROM? Thanks for all your help and I am sure I will be asking a lot of questions and probably mostly newbie questions. So thanks for everything.

Thanks BigJ for all the hard work you have put into this. I was chugging along with Verizon 2.07.20 dated 02/24/06 fairly well but what a difference your creation has made! I am a heavy tweaker but always reluctant to flash anything... Your included instructions and contributions in these threads simplified everything.
1 minor issue (more of an annoyance). Most everytime I do a soft reset via either the stylus (manually) or via program request (changing a setting within memMaid for example), upon bootup I get an eternal hang with the big picture of the clock which finally causes me after many minutes ...have waited up to 10... to simply manually force another soft reset w/ the stylus. Upon doing that 9 times out of 10, this 2nd boot is successful. I'm not sure if my installing Wisbar 2 advance has anything to do with this as that is the only thing I've added post install program wise and with a "startup" entry. Any suggestions besides Uninstalling Wisbar to troubleshoot? - Should I rearrange the startup via MemMaid to anything specific or somehow remove Handyswitcher or whatever thinking it might have a boot conflict with Wisbar? :? |

I can't build a rom. When I try to run BuildOS it crashes. That is as far as I can get. Thanks, Ben |

Also I tried WModem, hit start and got the error "could not prepare vision services, please initiate IOTA on device and try again" Which sounds like the DUN is not activated. So I need to get the ## working. |

1) TURN OFF BLUETOOTH 2) Click on Internet Sharing 3) Make sure the PC Connection setting shows USB. Also, Network Connection shows Sprint PCS Vision, so I don't know what it would show on Verizon. 4) Click on Connect. 5) WARNING - only after the above four steps can you plug-in your phone using the USB connection. You might have to plug/unplug a couple of times for it to work, although it generally works the first time. Good luck! |
Try this..
Hey BigJ,
Love your release but occasionally I would get system lockups or sometimes my storagecard would disappear. So for the hell of it, I decide to try a Colonels release and build one without all the bells and whistles that you have in yours. As it turns out, it was quite stable no problems at all. Then I decided to install the colorful battery status that you have above your start screen. "VistaHide Battery Gauge.exe" (you have this on your ROM) I then again noticed the random lockups and storagecard started disappearing. You may want to take a look at this.. Varaff |

What DC said is right, except I don't have to turn off bluetooth. This APP doesn't install as a modem, so you aren't looking for CDMA modem at all. When you are conncected properly it will show as a new network connection, and you will be able to access the web through this network. No need to dial up, configure a modem or anything like that. DUN isn't needed. |

? - What is the best way for us to remove this app completely since not in Add/Remove as its integrated within this rom? Going to look into atleast removing it from startup now for further testing. Thanks |

However, I'm not conviced that is the real problem, as I've been using it forever, and have never had any sorage cards disappearing or strange lockups, and I'm even running PhoneAlarm as an OEM, and it all works fine... Maybe I'm just lucky. who really knows. |

That worked for me. I had done that before not knowing I was connected, then trying to connect with Wmodem or EPST. Also lokking at network connections on my laptop it would come up with a status of connected but with limited or no connectivity. That must have been from all the other things I was trying. Thank you very much for the info, I am a happy camper now with this rom. Go BigJ, that's my BigJ Go BigJ, |

+++++++++ regarding the vista guage battery (battv). I to do not suffer any lockups or random storage card dissapearences. I used to but i changed SD cards and format it in FAT and not FAT32. I would be hard pressed to think that a 3.2k program running completely in RAM and polling only every 15 minutes is causing the SD card to dissapear. I know the apache driver for the sd card is wack, i would more lean towards that, than something else. It is bizzare though that colonel ROM does not suffer the same ghost SD issues because my understanding is that it is an apache driver issue. huh, I cant really speculate, if that is what causes issues on your handset, just remove it from the startup and install batti, or just put your battery bar back on the top and remove the clock from up there. +++++++++++++++ internet sharing/wmodem issues are bizzare. One user clued me in on a program called PDAnet that works fantastic. Ive used it myself now and it works rather well. Ill make a cab file later this week so it installs without putting that stupid icon in the bottom right corner. It relies on some PC side files though so youll still need to install it. 8) |

I only have epst.epst and epst2.epst No epst.exe, maybe thats why my ## codes dont work. can you PM me the epst.exe |
3 Attachment(s)
oh ya, that bluetooth explorer is here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311908 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ the EPST codes need SHORTCUTS, not a new exe. the shortcuts are on the ppcgeeks ftp here /Apache/New Core OEMs/Hetal_Patel/Z_OEM_EPST_Shortcuts/ just copy those to the handset, these shortcuts will allow the PST codes for the shortcuts you need ---to make it easy for you lazy people or those that dont know how to use the FTP ,,, here is the zip file. its a complete OEM package, just pull the .lnk files for what you need. |
I did removed the battv and handyswitcher from my startup and the softreset - initial lockup along with the vanishing SD seems to have resolved itself now. Not to blame either one of those programs though from the sounds of things its the combination when running wisbar as I am.
Thanks for the info on wisbar though. I will consider removing if any more problems arise. I like it's theming capabilities, start menu like regular windows, ect... but I'm sure I could get used to an alternate. Great job again BigJ! This is truly a remarkable upgrade from the regular stock setup. Much appreciated :) |
Today was the first time my battery has gotten low enough to trigger the 'battery low' and 'battery dangerously low' alerts. Strangely enough I got some bizarre errors shortly thereafter:
1) A box popped up saying it cant find the USB driver and please enter the name. I canceled it and it kept popping up over and over. 2) my text messages stopped going through and show as red in the SMS app. My friend said she didnt get them. 3) the phone dialer looked messed up, but it eventually reset itself (I use the touch dialer) 4) my ringtone reverted to the windows default (and stayed there thru a reset!) After putting it on the charger, and soft reset, all the above went back to normal, except the ringtone. |
notification bubble
Hello All,
first off, I am really enjoying this ROM - it is packed full of items, I really dont have to to install any program as they are all included in the ROM which is great should I need to hard reset :o) I was wondering though, is anyone experiencing an issue with the notifications bubble for appointments? I for some reason, am not getting a notifcation bubble pop up for meeting - it seem to be working for task, but not appointments. Device: 6700 ROM: BigJ 1.1r Carrier: Telus Mobility (Canada) Storage: 2Gig Scandisk (no programs installed on it) Programs installed to device after ROM Flash: - SPB Mobile Shell (1.0) - SPB Backup (1.6.1) - SPB Phone Suite (1.1) Thanks. |

I removed the startup for the battv three days ago and have not had a single lockup since. Don't know if that is really the cause - I thought more likely it was the push-mail system, but I'll go a few more days to see if it holds. If not, then I'll disable the push-mail to see if that is it. I am on Verizon and use a 2gb Sandisk SD card. I don't really have any other programs loaded and I always disabled the handyswitcher too. WeatherPanel icons
Does anyone have the DEFAULT (non-animated) icon set for WeatherPanel? It's not available for download on their site. I'm assuming BigJ removed them to save space.
