I got the 'trying to connect to USB device' pop-up on the today screen yet again. This is the 2nd time its done it - both times have been after a few days without a soft reset. Soft reset returns things to normal.

And no J my phone is not possessed.... :P

Where do I get the theme that you had for weatherpanel? I just upgraded to the 6800 and the weather panel looks totally different. I'm used to the one BigJ had on his roms...

I've just installed BigJ's NEWCORE 1.1r and have two questions:

1. What is the difference between BigJ's Newcor 1.1r ROM install and the BigJ Reloaded Kitchen? Originally I thought the kitchen was not really a "finished" install-and-go type of ROM but that you had to build it first for your phone. But I'm reading about being able to select which programs to install so maybe my idea about it is incorrect.

2. When receiving a picturemail I'm still getting a text msg with a link to the sprint web site but it's not the wap-enabled page and I still can't download the picture to my phone.

Also, I'm having lockup issues with my phone like I did with BigJ 9.5. Are there certain hardware versions that are having lock up problems?

Ok guys I found the fix for the mms at least for my xv6700. What I did I had to go back to the stock rom from verizon to check that all the settings were correct. So when you go to settings, hit the connection tab at the bottom, then click on the connections icon, after that hit "manage my connections" it will say edit or new, go ahead and hit edit, where it says enter a name for the connection put Data Network Connect then keep hitting next until you get to the user name there hit the advance icon and the tcp ip tab at the bottom and check use server assigned ip and check use software compression only NOT use ip header compression. the hit the servers tab at the bottom and click use server assigned address click ok then finish and you should be able to send mms and receive mms messages.

So, i'm trying to remove battv... just to test out if its been the cause of some of my slowdowns lately... but i cant seem to remove it properly. I moved the .lnk from Windows\Startup to my storage card (just so i can easily move it back if that ends up not being the problem) and soft reset.

The battery bar is still there! Is there another way i'm supposed to be disabling this app? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks Hector. I tried this as well and all of a sudden I am receiving MMS messages. I had not gotten any since installing this ROM. Hopefully J can add this to the FAQ for the VZW ROM.

Is battv the program that gives us the bright yellow/red/orange battery meter above the top taskbar? Do you know if there are any settings for that thing? I had BigJ9.5 and there was a way to adjust how it looked, if you could click on it to bring up more battery info, etc. I didn't see any way to adjust settings on the 1.1r version.

Any ideas on how to get this rom to vibrate on Exchange E-Mail reception?

im using the lastest sprint image. MMS errors when i try to send, something about invalid format. I called and checked and they comfirmed i do have picture mail setup on my account. I havent messed with any settings, from what i read is it should work right after the flash without me doing anything

any have any advice? thanks

In my verizon ppc, when I received incoming text message, no notification sound at all.....

Bro I had the same issue, so I went to settings, sounds and notification and changed all the text and threated messages ringers, try that see if it works for you.

Use the ArcSoft MMS program instead of the Threaded SMS program on the today screen to send mms. the threaded sms program tho capable doesn't work for mms on sprint and verizon

::Edit:: i figured it out, you send it from the email client not the threaded SMS program. I was looking for a arcsoft program for an hour to realize it actually isnt there

the battery guage is no longer configurable, and yes.. simply DELETING the shortcut to battv.lnk in the /windows/startup/ folder will stop it from loading, make sure you have resco set to see hidden files and see files in rom as this shortcut is actually a ROM file.

the configurable one is called batti, and there is a link to the homepage a page or two back, or use google.

I used the kitchen and unchecked the threated SMS one but I still get it on the phone when I flash it. I redid the rom twice to make sure I unchecked it but it still installs the threated SMS app. Any ideas?

BigJ, thank you so much for your great work.
Everything works awesome, except I had a problem with wmodem. When I tried to open it, it showed me "com open error", not always, but most of the time. When I navigated to Running Programms, I noticed that ActiveSync is running again, evn though I already stopped it. Any one has the similar experience?

BigJ put a entry in Handyswitcher which "ignores" closing active sync using the X button. You have to go to Setting > System > Memory (or just use the Running programs option) to close it.

If you dont want Active synce to be ignored, remove it from the Handyswitcher ignore list.

In my neverending quest to figure out why my phone still has lock up issues from BigJ v9.4 through the current NEWCORE 1.1r, I've come to the following conclusions. Well, not really conclusions because I haven't actually concluded with finding the cause. :)

BTW, I've got all TODAY plugins disabled; batty (whatever the 1.1r version of the batti program is) and handyswitcher NOT running.

1. When my phone first locks up, I'll eject and reinsert my Kensington 2GB miniSD card. On about 70% of the time, that will "unlock" my phone. Not sure why this is.

2. I had a reoccurring lockup problem yesterday just after installing a new game. When I went into PROGRAMS > GAMES and scrolled down to click on the new game's icon, my PPC 6700 would freeze. After a half-dozen reattempts I finally realized that after 20-30 seconds the phone unfroze and the icon showed up. After that, the icon always shows up and I can scroll through my list of games fine.

I've noticed a lot of freezing on mine too. I clear my running programs often. But I still find my phone freezing a lot, I did instal wisbar, and call alarm, don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I have to reset my phone about 7 times or more a day cause it will not respond at all.

The Call Firewall program doesn't work... or I just don't know how to use it.

I set it to block all calls. I save then minimize. I soft reset. Then launch it again and it still fails to block any calls.

I only soft reset just to be thorough, and then I go through process again of save/minimize.

Does it work for anyone that has actually tested it?

Works for me - block all calls sends calls directly to voicemail, and the reply by SMS worked as well.

I was experimenting and found that disabling VC resolved the issue---on my particular phone anyway.

I found personally that disabling VC on my phone with BigJ 1.1 kitchen, solved all of my issues of not being able to take more than 1 call, lockups and so forth.

I didn't disable it completely, but the voice announce was what was messing things up for me. I still use it to make calls.

Hey anybody know how to get the Ms. Pacman game that's in this ROM? I switched to the Mogul and want to install it. I found the game online but its a newer version and the performance is really bad compared to the older version in the BigJ rom.

I'm happy to pay for it...just want the older version and can't find it.

Just a quick followup from my post a couple weeks ago.

I have had not a single freeze-on-answer issue since removing battv and installing batti. Other lock-ups have decreased dramatically too.

Next, I am going to go ahead and put my VoiceCommand back on and see if things stay stable.

Hi,
I've seen parts of this when I searched but I cant find a complete answer.

My problem. I am trying to store attachments on my storage card, but in outlook when I click on save to storage card the directory is created in the unhiden extended rom. I have no choice between using extended rom or storage card. Any ideas?

just download the kitchen and copy the exe file in the OEM to the mogul and make a shortcut to it in games. works fine, there is no registry entries or any of that to worry about they are all created the first time you open the exe.

ya voicecommand is the suck, i love what it does, but it makes the phone unstable, im hoping MS releases an update soon, if for no other reason than to make it work on the mogul properly.

it is also the cause of the "COM OPEN ERROR" in wmodem. disable msvc and soft reset ... wmodem will work fine.

if your having issues in the kitchen un-checking threadedSMS ... just delete the OEM folder for it and then build.

removing the storage card and popping it back in to un'freeze the phone is completely normal, the 6700 has a faulty SD slot driver, this issue will never be resolved on this device, kinda sux ><

EDIT: the new kitchen has updated drivers that have reportedly fixed this issue. Hooray!
