But I just found a few messages from earlier today and never had a notice! This needs a fix... quick. I'm liking the speed and options on this ROM. But without the phone having a notification, pA doesn't tell me anything is up. |
Strange bluetooth issue: It connects to my car fine, and I can make calls. When incoming calls arrive the car rings, then the call drops to the handset. I can then only answer on the handset, but the strange part is I have to go into the menu and select 'disable bluetooth headset' before I can talk.
I don't get voicemail notifications either. I tested the Palm SMS notifcations and here are my results: Program running and active (phone on or in sleep): Notifications come through normally Program running in the background and phone on: notifications come through normally Program running in the background and phone off: Notification comes through once power button is pressed. Program closed (after soft reset or process killed through Memaid or memory): Notifications do no come through until Palm SMS is opened. |

Just noticed that I have the SMS problem too... Interesting. Never had that problem before.
Outside of that problem, I don't have any issues with this ROM though... so its a small trade off. How can I fix this? EDIT: Nevermind... if you open Memmaid and just make a link to messagingapp.exe in the startup tab, it fixes the problem. Just FYI. |
I do not have the voicemail problem u guys are experienceing? strange.
That said, I just de-tuned all the RAM settings down to 2096 (per the FAQ in 1st post from J). As a result, I am noticing much better stability, no more crashing or DSOD (so far). I will update as Im only into first 8hrs with new regedits to 2096. |

Speaking of, How about a Bubb Rubb theme? "The Whistle go WOOOOOOO" could be the ringtone, and L'il Sis as the wallpaper. :D |
Sounds like a good idea.
I will dig throuth some files if I get around to it. |
Thanks for the great ROM (again)
I encountered small problem here, in today setting I thicked "wireless", but when I went to today screen & tapped the wireless, nothing happened (not freeze)...just nothing.... I must go to setting/connection/bluetooth to turn on the BT.....any idea why this problem occured? & how to solve it.?? Thanks |

I had to hard reset my 6700 today, as the alarms went off this morning, but there was no way to turn them off. No notification bubble at all. I tried to soft reset twice, but it did not help. Unchecked the alarms, soft reset again, but no luck. I ran the Memaid before going to bed - so not sure what else could be the issue. Finally had to revert to hard reset. |
I use BigJ's Alarm Clock, and noticed that it did not wake up the phone to sound the alarm this morning. I'll test more to make sure I can recreate that.
Loving your ROM's J, keep it up! :o (I'm using the 1.0r kitchen.) Update: The alarm app locked up on me when I tried to change the settings just now. The rest of the pda seemed ok, just the alarm app was messed up. As soon as I soft reset, my alarm started going off. I set a new alarm and the phone did wake up for the alarm this time. |

RE: the verizon EPST codes, Ill have to take a look, I did not do any editing to the customization folder, but ill grab the latest from the R3 rom and put it into the kitchen. Hopefully that will resolve this issue. The lockups on notifications i cant duplicate myself nor can my co-workers/friends that are all flashed to v1.0r --- I wish I could dig this a little deeper and see whats going on. Does anyone know if this happened in Helmi's test ROM or in Colonels release? This is a true boggle! SMS is a big deal issue, so expect 1.1 out ahead of my initial release date. I hope to have it uploaded tonight. I can test the SMS issue, but I will be unable to test the verizon ## codes so ill need some feedback on that. I will also dig through EVERY oem that may impact notifications and see if i cant find a correlation with a package im using and the notification lockups. I also love what im seeing here, it looks like everyone is helping out and really pushing to nail down the problems. Thank you! 8) |

AWESOME ROM! I have been using your ROMs for a while now and they have all been great. The newest one (1.0r) is working great so far.
I have one question. In the past I used the generic ROM with my Verizon ExtROM (XV6700). I let the customizations run and it setup my internet connection (#777). The new ROM has the customizations built-in, but I didn't see anything run after I installed the ROM. Also, the #777 connection was not setup after I installed the ROM, I had to setup the connection manually. Is this what is required with the new ROM or an I missing something? Do I need to run the customizations manually, if so where are they located? THANKS AGAIN for great ROMS and the hard work!!! |

Any idea about the strange bluetooth behavior though? I don't mind a soft reset once in a while as long as I can use the phone in my car. This particular problem has shown up randomly through a bunch of roms I've tried, and isn't limited to yours. It does PAn fine, and connects to all my devices without a soft reset, but with my car it drops incoming calls immediately to the handset, which still thinks it is connected to bluetooth so won't work until I disable bluetooth. |
I had another lockup this am after only 1 night of detuning the cache sizes to 2096. AGAIN it was the call bubble up, and locked. I could make other apps run, and the start menu came down, but could not get the bubble to go away without a soft reset.
|
JBabey - I can test some for you if you want to check on the Alarm issue. Yesterday it did not ring at all. Today morning it rang and would never stop ringing - even soft resets won't help.
So I hard reset this morning. |
Also, one other issue. I setup IM+ and thought of using the today plugin. The plugin seems to be available on the Today items list but does not show on the today screen.
Anybody has this issue? -AR |

I'm having the same issue and it's a bit of a deal-breaker for me. Without the notification, phoneAlarm can't do it's thing either. |
Does anyone notice that with the Palm SMS app that incoming texts are dated ahead of their actual receipt? On mine incoming texts are dated two hours ahead of my phone time.
|
I *Think* i got all the issues figured out, gonna build now and test today, if its working properly it will be posted tonight when i get home.
- sms issues - locking on notifications - vz ## codes - alarmclock not waking phone up - bluetooth not connecting to *all* devices I dont have time to thoroughly test, but ill do what i can, the rest ill need you guys to pound out |
Calendar Reminder
What does it take to get a calendar reminder to stay up untill dismissed or ignored. On all the wm devices and ROMs i've had used dont do this. The notification will pop up and go away. It is only usefull if you look at the phone at the exact time. Often I will hear the notification sound and pull it from my pocket to see no notification at all.
Any Ideas? |

Let me know also if I should put the intellisync cab in the extROM or install as regular program? I have a nagging suspicion the lil spb handyswticher is causing issues, as it seems to be 1st thing on the today screen to stop working when these go downhill.... |

excellent news :) ---- - - - - - ------ Fitbryan & k000, & others: Before backing up PIM data for the next kitchen revision, I would look over your notifications not only for duplicates, but also redundant ones. I read elsewhere to use the "PIM Backup" proggy to backup & restore, so as not to transfer over any garbage data from a bloated "PIM.Vol" file.. ----- - - - ---- froader; You should see the left soft tab on bottom bar saying something like, "notification", or Dismiss", or "reminder"... |

BTW BigJ - Awesome new for you. I flashed to the NK.nbf from Colonel (date 6/5), and when my 4 pm alarm went off it went to the background and hid. I wasn't able to bring it to the front to dismiss it, and when I called myself from my desk the call bubble came up, but I couldn't answer. The phone didn't actually freeze, but the bubble wouldn't go away until I soft reset.
These are just normal calendar notifications, nothing fancy. |

I had two different issues : 1. My stock alarm proggy did not wake up th phone yesterday 2. Today stock alarm woke up the phone, but without ANY bubble to stop the alarm. As I had the alarm on repeat and it had to be shut up I tried soft resetting, but that did not help. Alarm would still keep going on and on and no - ultimately I had to hard reset the sweetie pie. |
froader;
You should see the left soft tab on bottom bar saying something like, "notification", or Dismiss", or "reminder"...[/quote] I understand what you are saying - But you only get a seccond or 2 to hit the Notification button before it just dissappears. Like the appointment reminder is gone and past. So at that point what good is a reminder that doesnt show? |
re: voicemail notifications
I see that J is taking care of the SMS problem. This should take care of the voicemail notification as well. Since the phone isn't processing SMS it doesn't receive the code to notify re: vm.
Other than that, I've had the phone bubble lockup once. Great ROM though, and great kitchen (my first ever!) Now all I need are OEMs of Pocket Informant and Pocket Breeze so I don't have to set them up every hard reset lol. |

That's not expected behavior. It's one of the issues I'm having with some of the recent roms as well, but if you try most of the others it should work as you expect. There is also a link in the sticky "Tips and tricks" thread to a pile of registry entries. If you look in that thread there are some entries that let you customize how these notifications behave. |
Voice Command Lock Ups
I'm noticing a lot of lock ups when I use Voice Command. The phone will freeze up and not come out of Stand-by. If I turn off VC, the freezing seems to go away.
Anyone else notice this? |
First of all ... thanks for a great reload or a simply splendid rom.
Secondly, I am not having any problems with the rom, but having a time with the kitchen. Forgive me but i read the first couple of pages, and just didnt read the last few pages. No matter which theme i chose, I get crazy snow like my dads old floor model when i boot. The best i got was a half of the sonic on boot, but then the remaining screens were crappy. Anyone have any ideas? And forgive if this has already been covered. |
Tharris, most often you have too much stuff chosen. Try the default or remove some of your choices and reflash.
|
Not true. Unless he got the error message on p. 39 of the manual, he didnt load too much.
THarris, try a different .prj, the one for your phone. The same thing happened to me until I changed it. Could have been a coincidence, but it worked for me on an XV6700. [/i] |
I can assure it can be true seeing it happened to me.
Have a nice day. |
So you are saying that this is another indication of loading too much? Could be. I'm just going by the manual since I RTFM
maybe Big J will weigh in? |
I see that part in the manual now, at first you put page 29.
That is a new addition and a good one. But I think I read that it gets compressed on the flash, so a good guess is anything over 80MB is too much. Maybe that error comes up at a certain size (ie a best guess) as a warning. And there maybe size that is too big but doesn't send up a red flag. But I am no expert, just giving him a possible solution. Hopefully one of our offerings helps him out! Quote:

In the walkthrough .doc page 39 is the important page in this discussion not 29. As pasted above.
