nope they sure dont. wish i could duplicate it.. well not really, but you know what i mean

fitbryan 06-13-2007 01:49 AM

so do I! :P whats even stranger is the double soft-resets needed to get back to normal. Never seen anything 1 soft reset wouldnt cure.

The program runs as a "Service" on the handset. The only way to keep the stupid icon off the todayscreen is to remove the service, effectively making it worthless for what it does. The phone actually allows it to run as a system service as well so you wont see where it loads, but if you look in the registry it loads itself along with your drivers and other OS level items.

The only thing you can really do at this point is file a complaint that its not an option to have that icon be removed.

bad coding on their part, but very clever the way it integrates itself seamlessly. This may also be why your phone is crashing as the program hooks into your contact list.

This program is really "cool" but ill stick to my mail2web exchange synch, this program is WAY overdose on backup services.

fitbryan 06-13-2007 02:45 AM

I run smartermail server so this works well to keep my outlook synced with the 6700. so nice having it seemless. when I figure out an exchange solution I'll be happy.

Try this www.emoze.com site for a free exchange solution that might be the answer to your dreams. This worked well with Mario ROM's through unified 1.6. I haven't yet tried it with the new core.

You KICK ASS J!

<3 the Chrono Trigger theme too!

You can do some sick things with these phones man. Jeezus! I'm blown away! :D

This is a first for me too.

My alarm did not go off this morn. I am using the stock alarm and not the AlarmClock program.

Seems like alarm was not able to wake the phone. The moment I turned the phone on both alarm bubbles showed up.

No idea why alarms could not wake up my phone. I was using the Alarm tone included in the ROM. None of my plugins / software run off SD card, thanks to JB as everything is in the ROM itself now :)

using the STOCK alarm???!!!?? your lucky i dont know how to remove that! It sounds like you have "dangling" or "duplicate" notifications in your system. Several things can cause it (look it up later) but you can get rid of them pretty easily. Go into Memmaid and on the bottom LEFT tab for clean, check the boxes to clean both dangling and duplicate notifications. once checked off hit the "clean" button and it should resolve your problem. your other problem is that you use the stock alarm program, you may want to use the shortcut in /programs/ called...... wait for it..... .AlarmClock! hahaha, (aint i a stinker).

anyways run that cleanup and try again, the stock should work, but its lacking in so many ways, thats why i put in gsAlarmClock.

-regarding an exchange solution, I use Mail2Web, its free and there is a guide on these very forums for how to set it up and all that. Be aware though... as with ANY exchange solution your battery life will suffer greatly.

You were right, I did have some duplicate notifications. Stupid Microsoft ;) why are they even allowed !!!

I always use QuickClean and use dupli/dangling checked to keep cleaning them, but I didn't custonize them yet on this new flash since yesterday.

I would looooooooove to switch to AlarmClock, but it does not allow me multiple alarms..... and I can't afford to make a mistake of turning that off in the morning and going back to bed, with no second kickass alarm waking me up again as I don't have monthly pass at train station, but have to fight for lame daily parking spots.... well there I digress to my gripe.

Anyhow, thanks for all the wonderful work and bearing with us aholes.

DodgeV83 06-13-2007 07:45 AM

Had my first freeze today.

I had Internet Sharing running in the background, I checked the Settings->Memory->Storage Card status to see how much memory I had free, then opened up File Explorer and navigated to the Storage Card.

The screen froze and was unresponsive to button presses, I couldn't turn it off either. Popping the card out did not bring it back. Had to soft-reset.

Edit: It froze while loading the icons for the files on the Storage Card

computercarl 06-13-2007 08:39 AM

Well BigJ, I just wanted to say thanks, for releasing a kitchen. I rolled 2 roms yesterday, one for my phone (loaded it up!!) and one for the other co-workers (made it look stock, w/ carrier customizations) and they both work nice. (once i fixed my screwed up oems (Seems your sonic theme and sogarths 1-calc use the same uuid, somoene cheated!!)and unchecked some useless stuff. (Paladin Pinball, 2+mb!)

I know it's hard to keep up with all of the n00b questions, and all of the people that dont rtfm, but thats what happens once they figure out that you know your sh!t.

Again, thanks for the kitchen. Are you planning to keep releasing new updates with each new rev. of the kitchen? (The one yesterday was based on R2, then R3 came out, im sure R4 will be out by the end of the week...)

Anyway, keep up the good work. I appreciate it, and I'm sure there are countless others that do too.

bmtbandit 06-13-2007 10:28 AM

I am not sure why this is happening, but it seems that I am not going to be able to use this kitchen. No matter how many times I dl the kitchen I get header and crc errors when trying to extract. I am running the latest version of Winrar 3.70. I have tried this on several computer with out luck. It seems however I am the only one with this problem. If anyone has any advise or an alternate method of getting this kitchen, please let me know.

Update: Downloaded via phone instead of cooperate connection and all is good.

Hayabusa1300cc 06-13-2007 10:56 AM

This ROM rocks and is so stable. There is 1 problem I have. I try to install a program I have called MUSICID. The .cab opens (via WCELOAD) I see a progress bar that it is installing for a split second then it disappears. Happens everytime. Rom is stock no other added programs.

jerkyjones 06-13-2007 11:03 AM

So is there a way to disable Batti? Usually I just delete the file in the >Windows\Start Up directory. But it isn't there.

BeuwolfAgate 06-13-2007 12:51 PM

J -> You Da Man.

This ROM rockkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkks...

It is very stable. And I have had no problems so far. I am on Verizon and so chose the Verizon customizations but still the ## codes don't work.

But figured out a work around.

For people who are interested in getting the codes to work, do the following.

Create a folder somewhere "EPST Codes", a good place would be in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder. Use Resco Explorer or anything that can create shortcuts. Navigate to \Windows\epst.exe and create a shortcut.

Move that shortcut over to the folder you created above. Make as many copies as you want for the different codes to work. Open the shortcut using notepad or word and add the ## codes to the end. Rename the shortcut accordingly. Now you should be having a working EPST codes list.

My 2c.

I def love the rom my dude. I have that one problem with the text messages. I can not rec text if the palm messenger is not running. Is there anyone out there have the same problem and fixed it with the sprint rom. Thanks in advance.

DodgeV83 06-13-2007 02:14 PM

Just froze for me again :(

It is 2pm and has been frozen since noon (I can tell from the updated weathertime). Luckily I haven't missed any important calls, but this is an issue. I literally was not using the phone at all, and when I looked at it, the backlight was off but I could still read the scree and see that it was frozen.

Is anyone else having stability issues?

YES!
I wondered why i didnt get texts yesterday, so i hit SMS (bringing up palm sms) and had someone send a test and got it. So i didnt think anything of it, but now if i send a text

It may not be a rom issue, it might just be the nature of the Palm SMS program.
I am using the Sprint kitchen ROM.

That is not the nature of the palm sms program. There is something wrong with jbabeys palm sms oem. The cab file works as it is supposed to. He will most likely be taking a look at this if he hasnt already realised the problem.

Yes I had 2 DSOD's (see my posts above). Im on the Verizon stock ROM. Please list what ROM ur using, and any specifics so we can try and find a common denomenator. Jbabey said mine was 1st time he'd seen this. Are u running anything off the card that is working with the today screen etc?

I'm using Verizon. The only applications I installed post-flash are Copilot (main memory) and Intent Manager (Card), none of which were running at the time.

It may be related to the post-flash Verizon customizations being built in? This is the first time I've ever had to input my #777 internet connection after using one of Jbabey's ROMs. I am using Mail2web push e-mail so I need a constant connection. I've had to input it a few times now too (seems to forget the password? I saw another poster with the same issue)

Maybe it'd be best if we let the Verizon customizations to run? This is just a guess though, cause I don't know why this is happening.

I can also confirm the same problem with not receiving txt msgs. I also tried sending myself a txt msg from sprint's site and tried it both with Palm SMS running and not running and only received a msg when the program was running.

jerkyjones 06-13-2007 03:53 PM

Only some files are visible when using the Resco File Browser. When the regular file browser is used, everything is gravy. I too have the SMS issue.

Yea I dont know whats going on with it. Everything else works. So I try not to exit out the prog just minimize it for now. I know J will catch it and fix it

This same problem shows on Verizon as well - with the caveat being that whenever I do open Palm SMS I get the message with the proper timestamp, sometimes an hour or more old.

Ok so we both on Verizon with this issue. Good to get that narrowed down. Hopefully J can nail this down, but so far we are both at a loss.

Yes I see that also, however the messge bubble pops-up when I turn phone on, just never get alert to tell me it had been there all along.

Is anyone else needing to double-reset to clear issues? Every time I soft reset, it hangs in middle of the reset. A 2nd soft reset does the trick?

I've had this once, not every time.

I didn't use 1.6 much due to some other issues with it, so I can't say for sure if this happened then.

Has anyone had any trouble with the Internet Sharing app? I activate it and connect it to my laptop but it fails to get a DHCP address. Any other time (just connecting it to my laptop without running the app) it grabs a DHCP address just fine.

I don't use the feature every day, but it was working the last time I used it but it was before I switched to the new 3.5 core.

Thanks!

Thanks Big J for the kitchen. Lots of options.

Twice i got to the point of flashing what i thought was a good nk.nbf file but found that when I hard reset the splash screen was a mees of pixels. The 6 red lines were barely visable at the bottom and the splash screen never went aay - it just hung. I got past puttting too much into the OS and was bale to create the ROM. has anyone seen this? Any suggestions?

I had this exact problem with the original kitchen. Are u seeing this with the updated most recent kitchen? verizon or sprint?

Often times this disttorted splash screen is a symptom of OVER-full ROM. Did u bake too much in? :)

I got the error message (I RTFM  )and got past that. I found a fix and that was to use the verizon.prj file instead of BigJ.prj file while encoding and had the nba and nbk files go directly to the folder that I unrar'd to. I'm not sure if that is what did it but it worked!

Thanks anyway

My voicemail icon does not show up also. I have a hard time believing that no one else is having this issue. I hope it is just some registry fix. Anyone have any ideas??

Other than that, your rom rocks.

Program suggestion

I have had great luch with Valksoft Space Reclaimer. It is a quick program that clears storage, but also closes all open apps. You can select to close active sync or not. This is good for us who use exchange. By the way is the best way I've found to sync. You can get a hosted exchange account from http://www.1and1.com/?k_id=13687316

Anyway does anyone have any feedback on the space reclaimer program? Possible alternatives to it? Maybee create an OEM for the kitchen.

Thanks for all the great work!!!
