Mobile Gmaps GPS access for Sprint 6700?

I know there seems to have been no progress getting the GPS working for the Sprint 6700, but pages like

http://www.mgmaps.com/doc.php

always make me hope. Apparently mobile Gmaps will use the GPS in your Sprint phone and get map data from Google maps. Sprint doesn't seem too happy about it of course since they allow one to use Sprints GPS without paying Sprint.

I hadn't seen this discussed here and was hoping maybe someone could figure it out for us 6700 users!

I tried this on my Verizon 6700 and it crashed my IE. The site was working fine, but the crash occured when I tried to download the app to my phone.

Im still using AKU 2.2 though

Update: Verizon devices dont support JAR and JAD files!

If it were possible to unlock WM5's developer mode using the same method as for Mobile GMaps and we would then only have to enter in the Sprint's IP for LBS stuff, then it would be nice. Unfortunately, the unlocking of developer mode seems oriented towards J2ME devices. If we could somehow take advantage of this, then it would be quite amazing IMO, but I am guessing it is probably not possible, but I hope I am proven wrong on that point.

I tried the steps they said to do in their forums, but was unable to get anything going. I hope this is possible soon!

I have the Colonel's latest ROM and Midlet manager. I downloaded the program they said was tested on the Nokia and Sony and it seems to work well.

There doesn't seem to be any GPS however.

works without GPS as well

I have AKU 2.2, IBM's J9 midlet manager and the program works, but it doesn't have GPS capability.

No, I'm on Verizon.

As well I was trying to find the nicer midlet manager the article said is on all HTC devices, haven't figured that part out yet. I currently do not have java, that's step 1...

It interesting to note the 6700 is specificly called out as a device this works with. I expect it will not unlock the inner GPS, however, my expectation is that this may bind with the 911 or 922 location data. Now I in no way support using 911 to get a location for casual use, 922 is another story (doesn't work everywhere) and this would be the tie that binds it together. Which could get more interest and support behind opening up the GPSONE chip.
