I should also add the backing up the AKU2.2 Goodlink profile on the SD Card and then restoring it on the AKU3.X flashed phone will only get to the point where the software installs on the phone but will not update or sync mail, so its useless. The cause is probably the same as above.

Hmmm, still working on this. I wonder if the people who claim success are doing the profile backup. It would be nice to get some of them here so I could find out exactly what they did. If they did not do the profile backup and instead did a full install, then I would guess that the rom they were running was slightly different.

I haven't read of anyone having it work on AKU3.X and the ones that do claim it breaks after or we never here from them again! I've tried with 3 different friends and 9 different phones on 3 different Goodlink servers and never once had it work.

Do you have any way of contacting tech support for Goodlink? I am assuming you can since you are using their product. I looked at the site, but could only browse the FAQs and knowledge database. Anyway, if you have to ability, can you possibly call or email them and ask them something similar to this.

Quote:
As one of your customers we have been using this product for quite a while without a problem. However, we are now having some software conflicts. Unfortunately, some piece of another software application is causing Goodlink setup to look for an IMSI instead of an ESN. These are all CDMA devices and should be returning an ESN for the Serial #. Is there any way you can assist us in tracking down this conflict? Basically, I think that there is another app that was designed for use on GSM devices, but it is functioning fine for CDMA. We have never had any issues aside from this. So, if you could, we would like to know where the Goodlink setup is trying to pull the IMSI from or how the setup identifies the device as GSM or CDMA.
That keeps it vague and you do not have to mention that you are using a ported rom. Change anything you want, but that was just off the top of my head. Basically, we need to know how the setup identifies the device and then decides whether to look for an ESN or IMSI.

initially i had some problems too.. im kind of hesitant to upgrade to pr6 (im down to 4mb program/storage...

i hard reset, flashed the rom, hard reset again and BEFORE I DID ANYTHING ELSE i installed the latest version of goodlink from a cab file on my sd card (which was also removed during the flash)

it looks like i installed it to the phone.

if theres anything else that can help let me know.. dont remember much else about the installation.. i was knee deep in vista at the time..

aughsum, this is a big request, but if you could check something I would be very grateful. Basically, I think I need you to do a hard reset and then start the Goodlink setup again. Before you enter your password, click on Menu on the bottom, right. Then check the Device Information. I need to know if the Serial # shows a IMSI or an ESN. Also, if you could post your cab here so I can check for differences that would help.

Thanks, guys! I appreciate the effort. I will work on Good support but I asked a while back about AKU3.X and they said "there were no plans as of now to support AKU3.X". Good version 5.0 comes out Mid 2007 and that is probably when they will attack this issue.

yeah, I remember that. I will also see if I can have someone with a p4000 and a legit version of 3.3 try to install to see if it pulls the ESN properly. I am hoping that their support will at least be able to tell us where to look for the root of the problem.
