The internet is cricket's primary limitation currently. Cricket WAP is proxied, and doesn't allow access to many sites. You can use google to work around the proxy limitations, but certain things are absolutely prevented, as a result of the proxy. You cannot use any IM program (there's one web based one that works, can't remember what it's called), Can't use any web based today plugins (like weather plugins)... it can't stream maps, so you can't use map4pda, or google maps as a GPS client.. things like that. You can't configure Pocket Outlook to connect to your email server.

Pretty much anything you can do within your internet browser will work, but none of the accessories that require the web will work.

Hopefully EVDO will fix those limitations.
Where's the info for getting a 6700 to work on Cricket? It sounds like something I should be reading up on...

Those guys have no idea. When I had a G1000, I spent many hours on the phone with Sprint tech support trying to get the text messaging to work. I'm talking several days. I'd talk to them for several hours, they'd escalate it and the next day someone from a higher level of support would call me. For like over a week straight.
Finally, after this had been going on for almost 2 weeks, and I was well over 20 hours into it (talking to them) they told me the G1000 wasn't compatible with text messaging. After that, I found pdaphonehome.com and those guys already knew it wasn't compatible. I just wish I would have found that site first.

Trust me, you'll get way, WAY better info about any type of pda phone on sites like this one then you ever will from Sprint support. Especially before the phone is even released. Plus, most Sprint reps that know anything about pda phones already post on sites like this.

It was funny when I got my 6700 and I was insisting they add the power vision that included picture mail. They were like, "But picture mail doesn;t work on that phone..." I had to explain to them I already had picture mail working on it and I just wanted access to the backend picture mail features. The rep, of course, wanted me to email her instructions on how to make picture mail work. I directed her to the web...

case

My opinion, go with 6700 unless you go with something based on WM6 out of the gate.

As far as cases, I'm on my third one and finally found the perfect case for me at Walmart of all places. It's cheap, made by Fonegear, nice strong leather side holster with a swivel clip.
Tried the VZ plastic side clip holster and it would send my SD card shooting off into the trees every time I took the phone out. Tried a Sprint store leather side holster that was way too flimsy and thin so was all out of shape within a week. This Walmart one has been going strong for months and is made extremely well.

I was in search of the best case as well.. First stop was eBay, picked up a nice (and cheap) leather with swivel case... I loved it, but it had two big magnets that would, more often than not, turn the phone on, change to landscape, etc...

I'm using a top loader now... And like the person above me, I find myself popping the memory card out alot, or turning the phone on when putting it in...

I have, coming in tomorrow, the leather one from Fortte... They are a little pricey, but I've heard good things about them, I'll let you know!

Of course, I'm very new to all this, but learning quickly. I wanted an upscale leather case, but one that would give the 6700 a solid feel when using it as a phone. After reading every thread on this and other forums, I settled on the eNovo. After a week's worth of use, I am very pleased with my choice. There is a great review at The Gadgeteer website. Sorry, as a noob, I can't post a link . . .
