I have thought about this and I have been considering attempting to play Xbox Live over the Sprint network, but I have not yet attempted this yet.
This will be something that I attempt in the near future though. Not that this is anywhere close to what you are trying to do, since I am sure the Wii "Network" and Xbox Live differ substantially, I wanted you to know that you are not crazy, and other people do comtemplate the reality of gaming while driving, camping, fishing, biking, riding the bus or what have you. I really do not like being confined to my home when gaming as well. Anyway, I will be trying this with Xbox Live and I will update you as to how it goes if you would like. |

About the best I have been able to do is tether the PPC to the computer, and then setup internet sharing and go from a peer to peer WIFI to the Wii. I have not been able to get direct tethering to the Wii to work at all. I have been trying for sometime. I live on a boat so my only internet is through the EVDO network.

for the record, I used my 6700 as a modem for a couple days last year when my cable provider was being worse than they normally are and I had no trouble playing Guild Wars while downloading torrents over EVDO. I would say it's at least possible to do with the Wii and Xbox.

I had no problems whatsoever playing WoW over the EVDO while taking a road trip recently. It even at one point dropped to 1x and it still held the connection. Different system, but still gaming over the net.

Unless the Wii (in the future) will support bluetooth PAN networks, it's not likely to work. Unless you can get your phone to act as a WiFi access point and NAT it over EVDO, I don't think such an application exists, but I remember a discussion about it a while back and it didn't surface after that.

well
Well actually before i got a ppc i owned a sprint a920 phone, and had the phone as a modem plan. If you bypass the app that sprint wants you to use to interface the web via your phone, and set up a manual connection via the windows web browser interface. You can get speeds up to 230 kps i have played ffxi using my pcs phone only, tethered to my laptop, and the only hitch was the battery would die in two hours. But with the ppc that shouldnt be an issue, it would only be a case of figuring out how to find a workable interface between the ppc and the 360.

I remember a thread, that I can't seem to find, about people playing xbox-live over the ppc on 3 bars.
I also played FFXI for the longest time over the sprint/6700 with full bars. Only problem was, after hours and hours of gaming, my stuff would get really hot. Quote:
Scheme211, which server did/do you play on? I was on Alexander. |
