Do this... unplug the phone from your PC, restart your PC. Then, after your PC has completely finished booting back up, plug your 6700 directly to a USB port on your computer (i.e. do not use a USB hub/extension or the cradle that came with the phone). Then, re-run the updater app you downloaded and see if that works.

Don't worry--it is near impossible to ruin these phones doing a software update.

What operating system are you trying to flash it on? XP or Vista?

What error messages did you see on your PC?

Don'jt fear, I had the same thing happen when I was flashing my phone, I'm sure most people here have. It's definiately recoverable.

well i contacted my provider and since i was trying to use Vista for this, that is what the problem was. Apparently you cannot upgrade the firmware using vista. i tried with my other computer that has xp and it worked fine.
