This happens with all the different versions of the iPhone slider from Re's original, my own mods of that, ones downloaded here, and ones downloaded from the PPL forum.

I'm suprised I'm the only one having this problem. Is it an ActiveSync issue or is it with the notification service? Do PPL programs need to explicitly give up control (e.g. like a message dispatch loop)?
That might be a better question to ask to the folks at ArianeSoft. PPL was designed primarily, i believe, for creating games. The processing power of your phone seems to be pretty well dedicated to ppl while the "game" is in use. This is one reason we had to add a small "snooze" to allow the caller id to be handled as well as activesync to sync.

Are you using a ppc6700? Do you have many other apps running?

Yep - I'm using a PPC6700 (Sprint) with Kirvin's 3.5 AKU Stock (not clean and simple).
Other than activesync, I've got no other applications running in the "running programs" list. Maybe it's something else that runs in the background?

Another possibility could be if the registry keys are being read too often so that they are locked and the notification service.

I noticed that some times (maybe 5% of the time) mail and calls (50% of the time for calls) will get through. Mail not getting through isn't too bad, but when about 50% of phone calls go unnoticed (not even showing up as misseed calls).

May also be a problem with the reminder service - if a reminder is blocked maybe it blocks other things too?

An update on my end - the problem seems to be with direct pushed e-mail from my exchange server. That is it seems to work if I don't have any push e-mail waiting to be downloaded.

If I configure the PPC6700 to drain my battery, I mean check a pop e-mail account every 2 minutes, and then send an e-mail to that account, it pops up fine. I can also receive phone calls. But as soon as I send an e-mail to my exchange server account, no phone calls or e-mails get through until I unlock.

Does the slider program access the registry keys for "outlook e-mail" status differently than the "other e-mail" registry keys?

No. Exactly the same.

It is simply reading the value at count () under unread for each:

missed calls
sms
other email
exchange email

New Release

Slide Beta 3

Tweaks to this Version include:

1. CycleText
With CycleTextOff=0 will Increase the Font greatly of all the previous calls to the registry such as:
a. Last Caller
b. # of Unread Exchange Emails / Other Emails
c. # of Unread Text Messages

Plus each one will cycle approximately every 10 seconds.

The appointments will remain constant and with a slight increase in the font.

CycleTextOn = 1 will revert to the smaller font (though slightly larger than the original) and all calls to the registry will remain constant on the screen.

2. Battery Saver
This is still an ongoing task, but it works much better now.
When you first start the slide.exe the program with be in Batt-Sav Off Mode. Which simply means it will continue to run at full power (minus a 7ms snooze to allow for the notifications to come through). If you move the slider to the right and release (or simply push the slide to the far left) the program will be in Batt-Sav On Mode. Which means it will continue to run for about 20-30 seconds and then completely pause. It can be rewoke by tapping the screen. Note that updates to the calls will not refresh in Batt-Sav Mode unless the program is interrupted or you touch the screen. I haven't been able to measure the battery savings so your help here would be appreciated. Battery Saver should work in all modes.

3. I tweaked the slider a little more and now it has a little bit more fluid like motion.

I'll post a squre version in about 12 hours or so.

Please post feedback. This still will not boot up as quick as A_C's with his new ilock.exe program but this one should use less memory.

Unzip all contents onto your ppc and overwrite the previous slide. Do not rename slide.exe.

A couple of pics from the cycletext mode.

SLIDE SQUARE BETA 3

same as the normal slide but made for 240x240.

I also adjusted some of the wallpapers for the 240x240 size.. should look better.

I'm not sure how the appointments will look because I guessed at their position.

Lemme know.. send me a pic and I'll try to make any repairs.

Thanks.
