Verizon 6700 : which ROM image to use ?

I have Verizon Apache which of course is running horribly slowly
to the point of being almost unusable. And it needs to be rebooted
every few hours. And the backlight magically sets itself to zero
brightness at random times. Wondering if Balmer uses this stuff himself...

Anyway, it looks like one of the new AKU3.5-based ROM images would
improve my relationship with the phone. However I'm a bit bewildered
by the number of choices. I don't have the time to spare to install
each one. So I'm hoping someone that has a Verizon phone can
let me know which one to pick.

Ideally I'd like to have the same stuff that Verizon shipped on the phone
(for example I need MSN). So the ROMs that remove that don't look
useful to me. I'm not too interested in the various 'handy' utilities either.
Really I want 'like Verizon shipped it, but working'.

Any advice on what to use ?

Thanks.

If I were you, I would just wait a few weeks for Verizon to release their own updated Rom (it will be a 3.x rom) I heard end of march beginning of april for release date. That will be the only version that is 'like verizon shipped it'. It remains to be seen if the 'working' part will be added though .

I think the closest you will get is the "Clean and Simple" install. I think the perfect ROM I had was when I used the most basic 3.3 (used the simple instructions to make my own basic rom with no kitchen stuff), never had problems with the phone until I tried 3.5, then I was back to the 2.2 days of DSODs. Now I am using Sar's 3.5 rom which I like, but also has little add ons, and removes a lot of stuff.

I run Karvins Clean and Simple and only load a few of Verizons stuff in the extended ROM .. I have no issues really .... runs much faster. I tried a couple other ones but just really didnt like the added applications that everyone was adding into the ROM.

I'm using Karvin's Clean and Simple for any Apache as well and am very happy with it but he removed MSN iirc and you stated you needed that.

I don't install any VZW stuff at all. I set up my account to use the internet and then did the updates via the #'s and *'s and was gtg. I don't do ANY texting or MMS though as those are not robust enough for my needs. Everyone I communicate with uses email and it's very simple to do that with this phone.

Can always make your own ROM too!
