Broken USB / How to Flash from SD Card?

One of my USB data pins is broken inside my XV6700 (Apache). I've tried to fix them from the outside but I can't seem to get them to make contact with the pins on the USB cable.

I was in the process of playing with WM 6.1 and have a less than stellar ROM flashed right now and would like to get rid of it; however I can't get the USB cable to work. Just an FYI, I tried several computers and USB cables and it's definitely the connector on the Xv6700.

I've seen posts for other HTC devices that allow you to build an image for SD/MMC and a procedure that will go into a special mode of the bootloader that will read from SD/MMC. However I can't find anything specific to the Apache.

If that is possible, can someone point me in the right direction? I'd also like to flash my radio via SD if I can. I see where this is all possible on the Titan but I couldn't find where anyone else tried it.

Thanks,
illc0mm

Re: Broken USB / How to Flash from SD Card?

i searched every where and there was nothing on flashing the apache via sd xard but you could give this a try>>>>>>>>>>

first download the rom that you want to flash (if your flashing a cooked rom make sure that your phone is unlocked) okay now your gonna have to extract the rom and take out the .nbf file and remane it to apacheimg.nbf the you will have to format your sd card to fat32 it will clear out your sd card so make sure that you save everything to pc that your gonna need then once thats done place the .nbf file that you renamed in to the sd card place it in your phone and go into boot loader mode it should start flashing>>>>>

im not saying its goona work but hey it worth a try cause i search every where and i didnt find any thing on flashing the apache via sd card (just dont rename it .nbh it has to be .nbf for the apache if it doesnt work nothing bad will happen to your phone it will just stay at boot loader and just soft reset and let me know if it didnt work im still gonna keep searching for you>>>>>>

Re: Broken USB / How to Flash from SD Card?

Nope, it didn't attempt to flash from the SD card. I think there might be more to it than that. I noticed on the Titan instructions it mentioned using "power + ok + reset" to get into bootloader mode. I don't know if that's just the way the titan does compared to apache's "memo + power + reset".

The good news was, I was able to move the connector around and hold it with my hand when I got a connection. I took the risk of a bad connection and reflashed it and it worked. So I'm out of the woods for now.

Going to more than likely order a new USB jack when I get the iPhone. It's still a good piece of hardware, don't want to just trash it.

Re: Broken USB / How to Flash from SD Card?

First of all you need a phone with WM5 on it and a 128mb card or larger. Then use MTTY to download the image to your card. You can do the radio, OD and the Ext_ROM but you have to do each on induvidually. Make sure you turn off activesyc. Put your phone into boot loader mode, start mtty, hit the usb button, enter then enter one of the following d2s 60000000 00800000 is for the radio; d2s 70100000 04000000 is for the OS and d2s 74100000 00a00000 is for the EXT_ROM. once you enter those on Mtty it will download each one to a card. You have to flash each rom induvidually. Copy it down from the one with wm5 then copy it to the other one with wm6. So radio - radio, ext-rom - ext_rom and os - os. To flash them up you just put the sd card into the wm6 phone and put it in boot loader wait for it to say to flash your phone them push the power button. and once you have done each of them you have two matching phones.
