For all of you trying to get your mms working, i tryed this and it worked for me on sprint.

This was taken from ppc geeks.
here is the link:

http://www.ppcgeeks.com/verizonguys-...,start,30.html

now i havent tried this technique with any other roms yet besides the verizonguy rom. but surprisingly it worked! (i was beginning to doubt i would ever have media messaging again)

so heres the post:

1 last question Verizonguy.. well hopefully my last.. Are u having problems with MMS with this ROM? I found an installer & tried to send a MMS and I click on the MMS button but nothing comes up, it just blinks

I think he used the custom mms in the kitchen oem folder. I've used that in my rom, it will send but i couldn't recieved. I just use the regular verizon mms cab and it worked fine on a clean rom. But I am having problem with vzwguy's rom because i can't remove the custom mms

I think I figured it out how to get the VZW MMS installer to work on top of that custom mms *ahem* crap that you can't uninstall automatically.

I deleted the MMS1 key from HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Svc\Inbox

then installed the VZW MMS, soft reboot. You'll notice the MMS inbox disappears. Go back in that key and change the new key that was created from MMS to MMS1 and everything works again. I was able to get MMS instantly from a Sprint user.

Although I would like it if someone can tell me how do you edit that menu when you hit send in p&v. the 'old' MMS still shows, but its really FLIX now, and the new MMS (pix) shows which is the right one. "PPCGEEKS.COM

THANK YOU TECHNOLE!!!!

Then for people with sprint do this.

This is the application installer from the XV6700 ext rom. Yes it has been posted previously I am sure but let's get it in one thread and get it working.

http://s39.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1...L0H3QSISV0327R

What I have done thus far is after installing the software, doing the required soft reset. I used a reg editor and change the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI

and changed the key

EnableServerEdit from 0 to 1

Soft reset and we are in!

Go into messages and you have a new option MMS. If you check out the MMS Configuration you can add a new server Or edit verizons.

Here is sprints info

Server Name: sprintpcs
gateway: left blank
port number: 80
server address: http://mms.sprintpcs.com/servlets/mms
Connect via: sprint
Sending size limitation: 350k
wap: wap 2.0

B18DelSolT 04-14-2007 05:58 AM

Also, to change the size limit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\6654

in a key called send default, there is a value of 358400, that corresponds to 350K. 1024 x 350 = 358400. Change that to whatever value u want.

I changed mine to 4 megabyes, so the setting is for 4194304.

Change this setting if you want to increase the size of pictures and videos that are being sent. If you don't, you can't send out anything over 350k.

lindsey 04-27-2007 11:52 AM

Kevin, any problem flashing your 3.5 clean to a Verizon 6700 and can the rom be reflashed back to stock. Could you please direct me to the right link. Thanks, Lindsey

friguy3 04-27-2007 12:09 PM

i have no problems with the clean rom on my verizon. what you should do is not let the verizon customizations run, then you have to make it so you can send MMS (pix/flix...PM me or look around, instructions are on here) and you are 100% ready to go. and to go back to the verizon stock, you can download it from utstarcom and it does it to how you bought your phone (done this too many a times!) good luck...

here is the UTStarcom link...click model to 6700 and then you want the AKU 2.X fix application if you want to revert back to stock

http://www.utstar.com/pcd/Downloads.aspx

good luck!

lindsey 04-27-2007 12:41 PM

Thanks, what is the most current Ver. fo 3.5 clean and link, Thanks so much for your help!

friguy3 04-27-2007 04:20 PM

its the one on page 1...it is using the unified rom pre release but now that the new unified rom is out i am hoping he will make a new custom rom with that...check page 1...

andril 04-27-2007 04:22 PM

Working like a Pro

The Clean & Simple ROM works very well on my XV6700 but the Stock has many bugs. I also have a question... am I supposed to let VZW Customization run after the update?

I am sorry for being a noob - just point me to the removed files and I'll do the rest - Thanks In Advance!

friguy3 04-27-2007 10:58 PM

no dont let them run. as far as i know they dont do anything and will make it so you cant send pix/flix...you just set that up yourself and thats it

EDGE23 04-28-2007 09:17 PM

wow, I just installed this rom, I didn't know I was missing a lot with a 6700(im on a wx). Thanks to unified rom guys and jeff. now I need to clone this sucker and ill be good to go.

Jeff Kirvin 04-29-2007 08:26 PM

I'm definitely working on reposting the Clean and Simple ROMs based on the new kitchen, but I don't know when.

friguy3 04-29-2007 10:21 PM

dont need to say anything...you have done more than most can say. thanks for making this in the first place! we can wait patiently... :rr:

Can anyone help me with a config so I can get my msn hotmail on mms

tivoaddicted 05-01-2007 08:10 PM

Exchange activesync problem?

So far, I like the Rom. Having a weird problem with activesync tho. I've configured it to sync with my Exchange 2003 server. This sync worked great with my stock config before the Rom was applied.

Now, I can sync contacts, email and tasks, but if I add calendar, or set it to sync only calendar, I get the 0x85010014 error message. If I uncheck calendar, it works fine. Any ideas?

I'm also getting the sddaemon.exe error on startup. I'm a noob at this, so please be gentle...

CALNOT.EXE causing Notification Problems

Greetings all,

I am a noob so please forgive me if my post is not accurate but I wanted to share some of my observations...

I have been having problems with my notification queue since I purchased my 6700 (WM5 now with the AKU 3.5 ROM), specifically with the first notification of the day not waking up the device, in my case that notification is my alarm. This has caused me to be late to work for the first time in 17 years! I have tried MANY different things to fix it, using the wakeup tweak, different alarm programs, removing the SD card, cleaning the notification queue, etc... I have done many searches and it seems that many others have the same problem but there has been no clear cut solution offered.

I believe that I may have found the root cause - In my notification queue, there are a few entries that run at night occasionally, two of which are calupd.exe and calnot.exe. From what I have read, these are to clean up some of the calender entries and notifications - all fine and good.

But what I have noticed is that the entry for calupd.exe is "\windows\calupd.exe" and the entry for calnot.exe is "CALNOT.EXE" and it does not include the "\windows\" directory pointer. The same goes for clocknot.exe and repllog.exe but they do not run as often. Can I assume that this means it is trying to run the .exe in the root directory and errors when it cannot find the file? The error apparently hangs the queue and prevents it from waking up when another notification comes due.

Does anyone know where this notification entry comes from and how it can be modified to include the correct directory path? Or maybe a simple solution would be to copy/move calnot.exe and clocknot.exe to the root directory?

On a personal note, I must say that AKU 3.5 ROCKS!

xarses 05-04-2007 03:20 PM

Jester357.

Notifications are notorious for not working right and should not be relied upon for stuf such as wake up alarms, I tried to get mine to work seveal moths ago when I originaly purchased my 6700 and gave up (some one may have a solution now) and stared using PocketWakeup instead, which has many, many more options, and alarms, than the builtin alarm, also PocketWakeup has options for increasing the volume (built in never got verry loud for me)

Bottom line, dont use the built in alarm, which relies on the notfication system

~X

Jester573 05-04-2007 09:08 PM

Xarses -

I am not using the built in alarm, I have tried several alarm programs and most worked for a while but they were unreliable. I believe that every program is at the mercy of the notification queue for any type of timed event due to their nature. I am currently using "Spb Time" for my alarm, it is an excellent program with many nice features but it exhibits the same problem. When you add an alarm, it creates an entry in the notification queue called "\windows\SpbTimeNotify.exe" to execute at the specified time. If the notification queue hangs then I don't think that it matters what program you are using, your notifications will get screwed up.

My point is that I believe that many, if not all, of the notification problems stem from a fundamental system problem caused by a Windows cleanup process. If the auto cleanup (clocknot.exe, calnot.exe, repllog.exe) in the notification queue are corrected to point to their proper directory then it may fix all of the problems.

But then again, this is just my opinion...

Thanks for the awesome ROM. Loaded it last night and it works very well. Threw in a few add-ons, and I'm happy with my phone again. :D

jrs 05-10-2007 11:03 AM

this ROm is great. One question. This ROM's phone keypad has a sepaseparate button for talk and end. Other ROms have a phone keypad where the talk turns into end when pushed and the end goes back to talk when finished. They also have a button for speed diall. any idea where I could get the the one that shows speed diall? TIA

friguy3 05-11-2007 01:24 PM

more stable than unified rom?

ok, guess this is a compliment...i thought i would try to make my own rom, been using kirvins clean and simple. i took out MSN and added pocket plus and diary and installed it, went fine, but seems like the clean and simple rom runs more smoothly. had a couple lock ups which i never had with kirvin's. is there more that was dont to the clean and simple rom? i didnt need the live stuff, but guess i can live with it until there is a new clean and simple with the unified rom! thanks for any input...

Jeff Kirvin 05-15-2007 04:47 AM

Welcome to the Clean and Simple Generic Apache ROM, now based on the released Unified Kitchen! This should be the lightest and quickest AKU 3.5 ROM available for any HTC Apache.

What's missing:

Transcriber
Stupid T9 input panel
ClearStorage
Some unnecessary graphics
Cyberon Voice Dial
WModem (Internet Sharing is included and replaces WModem)
A few other minor deletions, think of this ROM as "finely sculpted" ;^)

What's added:

WM6 Crossbow themes
OSX Graphite keyboard skin, which goes nicely with the WM6 stuff
Calibri and Cambria fonts from Office 2007
Midlet Manager, a Java virtual machine (for running things like the mobile Gmail applet)
Some registry tweakage ("She'll make point five past lightspeed. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid. I've made a lot of special modifications myself.")

As always, installation is pretty simple. Just plug in your device USB and run the installer. Follow the directions.

Disclaimer: No official support for this, kids, but really, it's just about impossible to irreversibly brick these phones. Just follow the directions and you'll be fine.

Hey, Jeff -

Thanks for all the hard work!

I've been (and still am) using your 3.5 "No Junk" ROM for quite a few weeks now on my XV6700. It's mostly stable (tho weird stuff still happens every few days, especially with the BT stack ... sigh).

Is there any advantage moving from your "No Junk" to your "Clean & Simple"? What are the major differences?

Thanks!

Fixes to BT and other stuff that they did in the unified kitchen. Plus I've optimized this for speed quite a bit more.

Not sure where to put this, but as many of you know, in addition to crafting fine ROMs for the Apache I also co-host a weekly podcast. Tonight we're moving the cast to BlogTalkRadio and taking live callers! So if you have any questions or comments for me (about ROMS, PPCs or anything else) here's the info.

The cast will be from 9pm EDT until whenever we decide our audience has had enough.

Listen here: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/maxgeek

Call in: (347) 996-3771

We'll take as many calls as we can, and cast traditionally covers any topic of interest to geeks, so we talk tech, movies, comics, even politics. Join the fun!

OMG, Jeff! I just installed the "Clean & Simple" ROM, and I have a *big* problem!

How do I change the two soft keys on the main screen back to "Calendar" and "Contacts"? For those of us with limited (pay as you go) web service, the "Web" key can be an incredibly expensive problem. Besides, there's a button on the side that brings up Internet Explorer that I can disable/enable as required.

The "Running Programs" is something I rarely use as well, where I use my XV6700 as a planner on a daily basis. My normal operation is to use the two soft keys, and remove the Contacts/Calendar from the Today menu for space for other less-used programs.

How can I fix these?

Thanks!

I installed the new Clean and simple ROM and it works great!

However, I noticed that in the phone app, a dialed number appears gray on a gray background and is almost impossible to see.

Can this be fixed with a registry tweak?

Jeff, could you or someone else repost the cab for 1-calc lite? The link on the MS website is dead, and it's all the calculator I need.

Ok I installed the clean and simple version, and its pretty nice, but one thing that is bugging me so far is the two buttons on teh bottom, its now for "web" and "running" how do I change them back to what it was before (calendar and contacts)?

Also on the phone app, when you dial a number the color of the font is close to its background so you cant see what you are dialing...

Check six or seven posts up. You can change the registry entries to whatever you want.
