You're such a sweetheart Jeff! Thank you!

naigaboy 08-11-2007 09:51 PM

Ummmm Jeff, to make other carrier ROMS for your faithful followers, just select the extended_rom OEM for the carrier in the kitchen as those OEMS have been tested and will not cause conflicts with the OS.
This will also prevent users from using the cabs in their extended roms and messing up the ROM.
Just my $0.02

I know how to make other carrier ROMs, but since I use EVDO for my home network connection, I don't have the time or bandwidth to upload more than a couple. I've already done a Sprint one and I have a generic "no carrier" ROM that I haven't had time to upload yet.

naigaboy 08-12-2007 02:10 PM

ah ok. i didnt understand that was the problem.

Happy little trees

The generic ROM is up.

This is a "NO CARRIER" ROM, and has NO carrier customizations built in. You will likely have to create your #777 EVDO connection yourself. If you don't know how to do that, please don't install this.

Woohoo! Jeff is Da Man!

Reallly appreciate it, Jeff. Thanks for doing this. \:D/

i notices a sprint splash screen when mine booted. i was pretty worried considering i have alltel.
but no probs. i connect to alltel. i also just wanted to say that this rom you got here freakin rocks.

Jeff Kirvin 08-16-2007 09:27 PM

Yeah, I plan on fixing that bootscreen, forgot I had the kitchen preconfigured to use Sprint.

seang 08-16-2007 10:11 PM

its cool man. that one little thing I can live with.

scotbotmosh 08-17-2007 02:44 PM

Does this build have A2DP in it?

hwnstyle21 08-17-2007 06:49 PM

I think people looking for a "Clean and Simple ROM" should download the kitchen and produce their own hybrid ROM. That is what I did. My paticular ROM is a Hybrid with only the programs that I wanted. Thanks to Jeff, Helmi, BigJ, and others the OEMs are out there and you just have to drop them into the OEM folder of the Kitchen. As far as the registry tweaks, mine is a hybrid of both BigJ and Jeff's. This is also in an OEM format so all you have to do is drop it into the folder. Once the OEMs are in the "OEM" folder run the program and a check box program comes up, and you select what you want in your ROM. Very simple, plus you get what you want.

seang 08-17-2007 07:58 PM

yeah, but, kirvin tests stuff, makes sure it works good, and with a decent group running similar stuff. you have others to troubleshoot with, in otherwords, larger install base=larger knowledge base.

besides, how hard is it to install 2-3 cabs, or a couple reg tweaks? really, customizing as you go is half the fun.

MMS

What do I have to do to get MMS working on a XV6700 with the generic rom. I did not notice any customizations try to run. Can I simply install Arcsoft MMS and it will work for Verizon?

quiktsi 08-27-2007 02:21 AM

Ok so I installed the rom and it is pretty sweet, two things though i cannot sync to get my contacts and stuff back and when i hit contacts on phone it just flashes and doesn't open. Cant figure it out really annoying. please help i love the rom

TMB_XV6700 08-27-2007 08:17 AM

Quiktsi,
Glad you were successful in flashing a rom (Guess you gave up on Colonel's?).
Your symptoms are classic for failing to hard reset at the conclusion of the flash. Just hard reset (two soft keys and reset button) and you should be good to go. I don't think you need to reflash before doing this, but may be wrong. tmb

quiktsi 08-27-2007 01:02 PM

TMB,
ya i gave up on colonels, just could not get it to work, dont know why. Looked pretty good too. Thanks for all your help i'll try to hard reset again. I couldnt get it to work and then I went back to utstarcom to get stock rom. then couldn't text at all. I cant get any this stuff to work. Really appreciate your help. Thanks

quiktsi 08-27-2007 01:33 PM

So I reflashed and did a correct hard reset and same thing. cant open contacts and cant sync. when syncing it says there is not enough memory on device try closing programs and retry. I want this rom to work its sweet. Oh ya and still not able to text, never send or receive.

TMB_XV6700 08-27-2007 02:21 PM

Check this thread: http://www.ppcgeeks.com/help-install...gh+memory.html

It's telling me you either a) didn't hard reset correctly, or b) tried to carry over your pim.vol or another backup from a previous rom. The only way to carry over that information from an AKU2.0 rom is through activesync.

Once you take care of these issues, I'll bet txt messaging will fix itself.

Mms

Just wondering if I can just install Arcsoft mms since I didnt notice the verizon customizations try to run. MY dad ha a XV6700 and I only get to work on it from time to time. Thanks!
