Oh, and don’t restore from a full system backup as you’ll end up restoring pre-3.5 system files.
So would I be putting the cabs to the programs I use in this extended rom folder?

If so, all I was able to put in that folder were 3 items before I received the "not enough room" message. Did I do something wrong?

My extended_rom2 shows storage capacity of 9.93MB with 7.39MB in use. (this is where I placed the cabs).
Instead of putting cabs there, click on the cabs and select "Extended_ROM2" as the destination.

I just flashed this ROM. I love the look of it but I have run into 2 problems:

1) When trying to send a text message I receive the message "This message has no receipient. Please enter at least one recipient address and send again." This message persists whether I type a humber in the To field or add someone from my Contacts.

2) In order to connect my phone to my Windows XP computer via its cradle I have to disable advance network functionality in "USB to PC". When trying to do this with this ROM, I receive the error message, "Failed to disable RNDIS to use Serial."

Is anyone else encountering these problems? Are there any solutions for these issues?

Thanks J.

Now on to my question- byhaving an extended rom folder, does this mean that if I have to re-flash, I'll still have these programs right here available to me; or.....do they just continue to work without me having to re-install them.

Hope I've asked that right.

The programs will still be there, but the shortcuts and registry entries won't, so you'll have to reinstall them anyway. The Ext_ROM area is just an extra 10MB of space to install programs, leaving you more space in main storage for data.

In many cases, as with programs installed on the storage card, you don't even need to reinstall them, just save the shortcuts and copy them back into place. This is a tip which I read someplace which has saved me an enormous amount of time when I've flashed and reinstalled.

Thanx again, Jeff-this 'stock' Sprint 3.5 is working great. I've been following the suggestions in this thread, re-configured the device to have all the cabs on the storage card and installed into extended rom, still showing 22.6M Storage and 25.42M Program. Now to find more programs to install!
One question: is there a readme file or instructions for TotalCommander? There's a lot of buttons so many, I'm a little trepiditious using it.

Extended Rom2 problem

This is what I did to remove the Extended_Rom2 problem.

I renamed the Extended_Rom folder to Local Storage. Works pretty good.

It is in HKLM\System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC1

Rename the folder value to whatever you want.

Note: You should do this before you install programs to that folder as the shortcuts will point to the wrong location.

Just tried this ROM and it's working pretty well, except of the following issues which were already reported:

* Battery indicator is not showing up
* MMS is broken (message does not get delivered)
