Go talk to your local Sprint store (full service). Tell them you want to exchange the unit and are willing to pay the $55 (for not having ESRP). They will send the phone back to the tech, after he is done working on it (assuming he cant fix it) he will approve the exchange. In most cases they will replace it in store, in rare cases they may need to order one for you. If they have to order it usually takes 3 or so days (you keep yours until it comes in) but they will tell you to come back in 5.

After you pay the $55 for replacement you will be able to add the ESRP program so that you wont have to pay for future replacements (as long as you dont loose it or drop it in water, thats another program).

The main benefit to paying the $55 is the ability to add ESRP for the future and a high likelyhood of getting an exchange in store.

Trust me when I say this is the best option.

FYI most full service locations even have techs on sundays, depending on what area you live in.

Ok, heres a little more detail of what went on. I went to the corporate store to have them look at it they told me the utstarcom warranty number. I called it, they are only open weekdays. called sprint mentioned that part, they said to wait was their suggestion, didn't say no 55 dollar thing for sure, but didn't give help. I went to a closer store, they said i needed to go to a corporate store and talk to the manager. I called that store mentioning all that went on they said they didn't have any in stock and couldn't help me (haven't got them for a few months) So that's where i'm at now. On top of all of this i'll be away for Officer training in the Air national guard starting march 10th til april 20th. This means that if i were to be able to "borrow" one i would only use it for about a week. I'd love to have it to pitch in right now especially though, but it isn't looking like i'll be able to do it with the warranty or the $55 way.

Depending on how long you have been a sprint customer.. the retentions department might be able to help. Call 1 800 sprint1 and say cancel service. They have helped me a million times before. Say new phone or I cancel and they seem to be pretty nice

personally i think you should tell sprint..

"Hey... I've been doing for FREE what you're tech support people should be doing, and making these phones work for you're end customers. Indeed not only should you replace this phone here, but you should give me 2-3 ADDITIONAL ones, as well as a pre-release of you're 6800. That way I can be sure that you're customer base has a decent phone, and is overall pleased with you're service."

Heck while youre at it you should give me some major stock options, that way i continue to be movitvated to help support you're customer base that you and you're bohemith politcial organization takes for granted.

But then hey, thats just my opinion.

I somehow missed this yesterday. I know you mentioned you tried flashing the Sprint ROM back in and no luck. When you did, did you try reflashing all three files? If not, hard reset and try all three files. For the heck of it, try it twice (hard resetting before each time)

This has happened to me before and that was how I was able to recover.

That stinks...I have a problem with my phone (the soft re-set button wasn't functioning at all...probably from all of the testing I have been doing as of late ), brought it to my local Sprint store and they replaced it for free...

How does this episode end?

I know this is old by now, but ever try having someone else with ESRP insurance activate your phone on their plan and take it in for repairs?

I mean buy your phone from ya and sell the repaired/replaced one back to you?
