Horrible reception (no bars) after 6.1 upgrade

Since I've upgraded to 6.1, I am having a lot of trouble receiving reception, whether indoors or outdoors. I've dialed *228 and updated my roaming capabilities, but it hasn't been a help. Now, I get a call and when I answer it, an average conversation is "Hello, hello.... can you hear me? Hello?" and sometimes I hear a few low beeps and it disconnects. Can anyone give me a suggestion on how I can fix this? I love all of the changes, but in the end, it still is a phone and I need to be able to talk on it... and hear.

I am having the same problem. On my previous Apache, I upgraded the radio, then upgraded to WM6.1 and had no problems. With my "new" Apache I upgraded to WM6.1 and the reception sucks. Upgraded radio from 1.2* to 1.41 and it didn't help much. Updated the PRL and it helped a bit, but the signal is still infinitely worse than my previous phone. If it still powered on I could compare them and find the issue...

Maybe you guys could get together and see if you, by chance, concocted the same recipe for your ROM. Some interfering program??? Or maybe do the radio upgrade first and then flash, like you did b4???

I was thinking about doing that. I wish I could remember if I had radio 1.41 or 1.43 on my old Apache. I installed GPS drivers and TRIED installing Titan radio update on my old one, but phone worked great before and after... I'll try tinkering with it at work today...

I did this "upgrade" and now my problem is worse. Even in my house, where I had okay reception, the call volume drops down and then I can't hear anything. Then it gets loud and drops down to nothing. Any suggestions? I am frustrated now, it's impossible to use it as a phone right now.

Where's Weedahoe when you need him? He's an advocate of the WM5 ROM where I think you need to go back to. Probably didn't want to hear that but you need to get it to be a phone again. If you really want 6.1, try a bare bones ROM and see if the reception is acceptable. Then go from there to customize.

Yeah, mine is worse now. I don't even think it's the reception, maybe it's the call volume??? I am confused. All I know is that the volume goes from high to nothing. It's impossible to talk because you can't hear the person.

This is only hack I Know for call volume and it is advertised as VZW-specific. It didn't do too much for me on VZW. That it goes up and down is so weird..

Hack for louder ear piece volume for verizon.

Tap Edit
Unlock Code 000000
Tap Display Arrow goto CDMA Settings
Tap and hold "EVRC Enabled" line
Select Edit
Switch to Disabled
Tap OK
Tap and hold "Home Page" line
Select edit
Switch to "Voice 13k"
-Also switch "Home Orig" and "Roam Orig" to "Voice 13k"
