Re: Horrible reception (no bars) after 6.1 upgrade

I agree, WM6(.1) isnt for everyone and if you are having these issues then you need to see if it is something you have done (on the software side of things) or if you have other issues (hardware/radio). Going back to WM5 isnt such a bad idea at this point and may even clear all of your issues. If it does then you can decide whether or not you want to go back to Wm6 or stay at 5. It will at least tell you where your issues are at and add to the rule of isolation.

This is only hack I Know for call volume and it is advertised as VZW-specific. It didn't do too much for me on VZW. That it goes up and down is so weird..

Hack for louder ear piece volume for verizon.

Re: Horrible reception (no bars) after 6.1 upgrade

Well I tried the 1.43 last night at home and it made an improvement for me. One additional bar most everywhere at my house.

Re: Horrible reception (no bars) after 6.1 upgrade

Just for the record. I never had any change from when I went from whatever radio version I had to 1.41 and then 1.43 and there were others who said the same and some who claimed they got record changes. The thread on it is extremely long.

On the codec changes, there again, I never noticed a change.

These are just mive experiences BTW

Re: Horrible reception (no bars) after 6.1 upgrade

The biggest change I got in reception was after updating the PRL.

Re: Horrible reception (no bars) after 6.1 upgrade

How do you update the PRL?

Also, how exactly could I go back to version 5 now that I've changed the bootloader and updated to 6.1?

Re: Horrible reception (no bars) after 6.1 upgrade

I had actually done this, so it's bizarre I am having such an issue with the volume dropping out.

manually load prl from epst its ##778 on vzw search here for what it is on sprint but requires your msl. Select prl update and manually load it from phones memory or memory card. Prls can be found here http://www.corolada.com/prl. To go back to wm5 download the official sprint wm5 latest extract the .exe file and pull out the radio, ext rom, and os rom and place them in a noid bootloader or whatever ruu type is the correct one for your bootloader version then flash.

Come bro, this guy cant even figure out how to go back a ROM and you are give too non-detailed and far advanced steps for him to do that. If you wanna IM him or even VNC it to do it or show him thats one thing, but I promise he doesnt understand nothing you just said.

I understand what you are saying because Ive done it for a while but tell him how to extract the .exes and how to remove the other components out of the ROM. Does he know what a noid BL is? Or even a RUU? Slow it down a bit and answer more thoroughly for everyone else to follow.

Changing a codec has little to do with dropping in an out IMO. I have seen cheap BT headsets do the same because they were chinese knock-offs and not good quality components. Again, there is a difference in the sound cutting in and out and going up and down.

I assume you are on Verizon. Dialing the *228 or *22801 updates the PRL over the air. *22801 just forces the update to NAM1, you gernerally only need it if you have two different accounts on your phone.

Here is the OEM ROM for your phone: http://www.utstar.com/pcd/downloads/XV6700%20AKU3.zip
