Ringtones should go in \Windows. If you try to move them anywhere else (even a subfolder of \Windows) they will end up using storage memory.
Colonel has done some work in this area, so hopefully he can come in here and tell you what to do to get them to show up in the ringer list. |

you need to use an initflashfiles.txt to make the copy to the ringers folder, but then it takes up program memory. I would think it could just be added to an OEM so it will be in the windows directory and then make a reg edit to have the ringers folder set to the windows dir. I haven't tested this though.

the answer is, simply you dont.
what you should do us update the registry entry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\CONTROLPANEL\SOUNDS] "Ringtones"=multi_sz:"file_name_in", "file_name_2.xxx", .... those files should reside in \windows after you're oem. That way they take up no more room on your phone. you "could" copy them using the initflashfiles.dat, but if you do that they will take up space on you're phone.

There is a folder under LOC called 70bf28e9-b87c-4b43-be51-e804d08276b1
It contains the windows base ringtones. I put mine in there and then they show up in windows along with the standard ring tones. You need to do the registry edit discussed above to have it show up in the drop down window in controlpanel/sounds and notifications. |
