There are a number of extROMs available on this forum.
I got a great one when I first signed up here. And it works perfectly with this custom ROM.
I believe it was created by wideawake (the mod/admin).

I've been having a major issue w/ sp5 last few days - keep getting notification errors 'unable to execute calnote.exe' and 'unable to execute repl(something..)' - I see those when I wake up my phone.. and it causes my phone to not ring when it does it... (I basically have to reboot when it does that...)

Anyone else see those? I finally caved in and installed scarybear's checknotification program and ran it (even though it's made for wm 2003) - so far so good but not sure what was causing the issue in the first place...

I've not noticed an issue with it, although I do use mostly non-drm ebooks, so I've not looked all that closely. Depending on where you buy your "secure" ebooks, it's usually not difficult to redownload them with the new device id.

Since readers seem to be the main topic of discussion, has anyone tried Newsbreak? Seems to be getting great feedback here and it's still on sale: http://www.ppcgeeks.com/new-newsbrea...-15-t3610.html

I remember having this problem once and I decided not to use it again. If things have changed or I am in error, let me know (but this is to the best of my recollection).
I've never had a problem with Mobipocket. In fact, I re-installed it with this new rom after not having it for a couple of months and after many hard resets. Everything worked fine. At worse, I guess you'd have to delete a device at Mobipocket and start a new one.

GAC patch within SP1 doesn't work. Saridnour I was just doing a once through with PR5 SP1 from a clean build on my phone today and I learned that the GAC files for CF1 are not working; IDTRansfer (Bad Sectors) application isn't working on a clean build with SP1 which required the GAC files. If I reload them manually all is good..

Also are you compressing your CAB files when you create them; this will save us Extended_ROM space as I add the SP within my eXtended_rom / config.txt for hard-resets.

schwos: What are you using to reload the GAC's? I am just copying them in to the windows dir so unless you have an installer that is making reg changes?? I will start compresing the cabs. I have not done so up to now but had not been adding to the extended. now that I know people are, I will cut down on the space they take up.

diomark: I would back up my data and hard reset the re-apply the sp1. This should get you back. Be carefully loading back your apps as one of them could be casuing the issue you were seeing. A hard reset should set you back to square one whenre you can verify that it is or is not working through the process of re-setting up your device.

Sar

Well Interesting in my tests I reapplied your SP1 patch outside of Extended_ROM and it worked, I am researching on why it didn't take in the Extended_ROM Customization; I saw it run.. IT is minor but in the future compressing the CABs is helpful, I am doing it after I download yours; every little bit helps.

PR6 can we get it a bit early?
