I have the same ## issue with sprint
I loaded the AKU3.5. ## code issue is the only issue that bothers me. Can someone point a direction on how to fix this. The registry key are still there.

Right - they're in my 3.5 rom as well and not working - somthing is different about the 3.5 phone app, probably the same reason smartdial does not work on 3.5
Anyway... open a file in notepad, enter 40#\Windows\EPST.exe ##675 Save it. Find it with totalcommander (or any other file browser) rename it to msl.lnk, and copy it to \windows\start\programs, and you'll have it. You can make a fancy icon for it if the default one is icky. I'm wondering though, ##675 (M S L) isn't in the registry anyway, on a stock Rom. |

I have, but I get the same behavior after a soft reboot. |

schettj,
I created the shortcut and I can "View" the phone number, but when I select "Edit" I get a "Check unlock code failed" error. I created a prl.lnk and when I run it it asks me for the unlock code and then works correctly. Rob |

That did it for me. I edited the msl.lnk file and changed the number to ##778 and it works as advertised--I can edit the MSID after entering the MSL (unlock) code. This was the last major hurdle to get over for this 3.5 ROM. To sum up: If your Sprint 6700 won't accept ## codes from the dialer, then do what Schettj said: Quote:
40#\Windows\EPST.exe ##778 Pasted it into Notepad, saved the file as msl.lnk, then using Activesync's "Explore" button, dragged the file into my phone's \windows\start\programs\system tools folder. When you run the link you simply enter your MSL (unlock) code and edit away. Thanks again for all the help Schettj. Rob |

Could someone post an example of their _setup.xml for setting up their email and is it possible to enter the "Owner Information" by using a .cab?
I tried using a provided _setup.xml and changed the info for my email and compiled a .cab, but it installs "unsuccessfully." Rob |

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have a Sprint PPC-6700. I am sorry for my ignorance but I seem to be having some problems with the 3.5 kitchen. I am not really sure what I need to do to upgrade my phone. I unpacked the rar file and read the readme.txt and tried to follow the directions but had some problems. I am using Windows XP Pro and tried to run the CreateOS.exe and it crashed. Do I need to make a baseline rom from the kitchen? What exactly am I supposed to do from the point of unpacking the rar? I cannot seem to find this information. HELP, I am a newbie! i got same problem as you are so please help us . thanks so much |

Hey folks, the kitchen is not a newbie environment - if you're lost with the kitchen, you are probably way WAY better off using someone else's prebuilt ROM image.
Building a ROM isn't hard but it is complicated. I don't know about the rest of the folks cooking up roms, but I've got a background in software development, I've built my own linux kernel, etc... and this stuff is just a variation on all the stuff I already know how to do. If you have no idea what you are doing, then you might well do something not so good. So, to recap... using the Rom Kitchen to build a rom is like building your operating system for your computer - if you don't do that for your computer, don't do it for your phone. Now that said, you cannot do any damage at all by downloading the kitchen, installing .NET CF 2.0 on your machine (the one you've downloaded the kitchen on) Opening the readme.txt file, and trying to build a rom following the steps there. Play with it until you are comfortable with what you are doing, or if you never get comfortable use one of the prebuilt roms! |
