Just a side note I thought some newbie's like myself may be interested in.
*Maybe this should be added to the wiki?*

The Project file - nk.prj

Located in the "*\Convert and Flash" directory, has a specific file path of "C:\HELMI_Apache_3.5_KITCHEN_PPC-GEEKS_r1.0\Convert and Flash\" in it.

You either have to unzip with path to your C drive, or redirect the path within the nk.prj. I'd suggest the 1st option, because I am not familiar with the project file and don't know how touchy it is.

p.s. remember when we rarely hard reset our ppc's?!

Anyone have any insight into whether SmartDial will be fixed? CeleDial doesn't look like it works with the Vista Dialer & if I have to trade off 3.5 against 3.3+big buttons+Smart Dial, the latter will win out. (Unless there are other things I'm missing besides the coolness & the newer icons... )

As helmi stated 3.5 hasn't supported SmartDial as of yet. If there is a development of getting it working, i'm sure it will show up here.

If not, well then NOT, and other options will have to be persued.

In the mean time, we have managed to get the 3.5 kitchen up and running, and as many are now noticing those who are making roms can, faily easily, support both the 3.3 and 3.5 vein of rom images. At this time, we believe the Smart Dialer is the only "down" side of 3.5, so its getting a lot of preference and attention.

Underneath there are undoubtedly other changes entered into the code base from msft, that we may never actually know what they are. Usually these include bug fixes and performance tweaks, so the newer releases and versions have upsides there.

For each individual its always a trade off between one thing and another. If for you at this time the 3.3 is a better option because of the smart dialer, then by all means stick with it.

Remember that on the heals of all this microsoft was scheduled today to release WM6 anyway. So by the time we all get 3.3 or 3.5 setup the way we like it I would expect a lot of effort and noise about WM6 running on these phones anyway.

I noticed the a version 1.1 was loaded on the FO (which I am downloading right now). I tried cooking a vanilla ROM from version 1 and when I reset my phone after installing, it just hung at the Telus screen. I didn't try to add any OEM packages or change everything and I followed it step by step. Any ideas? Thanks!

Did you reset all of your power settings to optimize (i.e. auto shutoff, etc.) Also, don't forget to change the button lock setting so it only turns back on if you hit the power/suspend button.

Are you using a weatherpanel program or something that is getting using the internet connection and getting stuck on (or checking every 15 minutes or something)?

I am using 3.5 and power is great. I have exchange based push mail, used it for some short phone calls, and after 12 hours I am still at 70%. It is definitely something on your end, not the 3.5.
