Things I've noticed so far:

1) In Settings->Connections->Usb to PC, unchecking "Enabled Advanced Network Functionality" and clicking ok gives the error message "Failure to diable RNDIS to use serial."
2) Running Wmodem, clicking start gives the error "Com Error Open." But from what I'm understanding, you can use the connection sharing instead of wmodem.

I've also been getting random freeze ups. Need to do more testing to figure out what is causing it.

Ok.. I have a theory, and would like some help testing it.

I just put up a nbf file. Those having issues with core functionality from the kitchen such as serial mode etc, if you could fetch this nbf, and test JUST the problems with core functionality I would appreciate it. Many of the things that aren't working can be application/modification based, and I dont want to chase those at this time. I'm looking for driver level issues. Such as inability to use the serial mode, or USB connectivity issues. Avoid adding any other stuff not absolutely necessary to get to test these things.

Apache\Sfaure03\Odities fixed MAYBEnk.rar

Flash that, see if it helps with the core issues at driver level. The fewer mods applied the better. This is a STOCK nk.rar {no phone provisioning done} with some changes to the OEM modules. Nothing more.

I want to know if it helps resolve the issues were CORE functionality such as USB connectivity get resolved. Not interested about whether other applications interact properly at this point.

USB Serial Mode fails on first run after HARD RESET, and every time after, with nothing installed - it's the first thing I tried - to, you know, sync via USB

You can verify this yourself. Burn above rom, HARD RESET, on boot go right to the USB to PC setting, uncheck it, tap OK, and feel the love.

Winmodem fails on first run, but seems to run after first run.

No problems with freezing, been pretty stable actually.

Here's what I did to get this to work.(Mind you, I'm on Verizon's last AKU, not any newer fancy ones).
I just did this to verify it works because I saw it come up in another forum.

After a hard-reset and stopping the Verizon installs, I was not able to dial the ## codes.

1. Soft-reset, dialed ##3328873 - *** doesn't work ***
2. Installed Customize_105201.sa.CAB, dialed ##3328873 - *** doesn't work ***
3. Soft-reset, dialed ##3328873 - *** Works! ***

So, if you installed the Customize_105201.sa.CAB, you probably just need a soft-reset.

****UPDATE/EDIT****
After upgrading to AKU3.5, this does not work.

Thx schettj. course that blows the theory away. I was hoping that those problems were some more module conflicts. so that rom i build had all the HTC modules ripped out and replaced w/ UPX'd dll/s and exes.

Unless you want to try again w/ a build w/o me upx'ng them i'm gonna blow of that "theory".

O course, i'm stumped. I have no idea of any conflict that could be leading to the core problems some are experiencing.

I dont use serial or bt active sync, so it doesnt much matter fer me.. but it would sure be nice to have them resolved for the larger audiences who do use them.

Maybe some of the custom cooker guys like colonel will figure it out as they apply their customizations.. heck who knows. Maybe that is all this rom needs is some o those tweaks they've gleaned up.

flashing my cooked 3.5 ROM with the following extra OEMs right now, wish me luck:

SPB Pocket Plus
SPB Weather
Live Search
Total Comander 2 UPX
WM6 RDP

Play by Play of my install:
oooh I liked the new startup screen the the swirly circles, time to setup email and other stuff. First thing I noticed was that even though I set the date and time on the welcome screen my pocket plus and weather are expired, and my serials are at home I think =p. Got my SSL certifcate installed and synced my email no problem. So far so good. I installed Voice Command and Pocket E-Sword / SQL CE. Installed TCPMP (should have put this in my ROM). Not sure whats up with the modem link shortcut in programs, as it doesn't appear to work.

Can you post the OEMs of Live Search, Total Comander 2 UPX, & WM6 RDP on the FTP? I want to include them in my kitchen!

Hmmm...then I take it that the OEMs are compatible with both the 3.5 and 3.3 kitchens then?

yeah those are already on the FTP here: ftp://ppcgeeks:ezupload@up.ppcgeeks....e/Kitchen OEMs

yeah most OEMs that were created for 3.3 or 2.2 should work fine in 3.5
