Verizon (Asurion) insurance replacement

I keep waiting for the 6700 to cycle out of stock. Has anyone received anything different as an XV-6700 replacement recently?

Re: Verizon (Asurion) insurance replacement

i may not be a verizon customer like i was several years back, but it's possible you can get an xv6800 after you claimed a 6700...

Re: Verizon (Asurion) insurance replacement

I got a buddy that (while cutting grass) accidently ran over his 6700 with the mower (OUCH) and he received a replacement that was totally new and dated 3-18-08 under the batter from Ashurion. This was last week

Smile Re: Verizon (Asurion) insurance replacement

I did a vzw asurion claim on a 6700 around valentines day. They sent me a refurb 6700 and I called and complained it kept freezing up (nothing more than normal ) and had to soft reset it like 5 times a day I did their trouble shooting and they told me to call back after 24hours if it still kept happening and the asurion guy noted on my account to send me a new phone not a refurb. I called back in the next day and there were no new 6700's so I was given a choice of a new 6800, new i760, or new treo wx700.

Re: Verizon (Asurion) insurance replacement

I called Asurion on Friday (04/04) for a replacement on my XV6700. I asked if there was any possibility of getting an XV6800 even if I had to pay anything extra beyond my deductible but they told me that wouldn't be an option unless I went back through Verizon.

My two year contract is up and I'm considering the AT&T Tilt but I may just hold off for a while. I'm still hoping to find a PocketPC with VGA resolution, keyboard, wiFi, Bluetooth and enough memory for less than $500 with a two year contract. No success so far.

My replacement XV6700 came in yesterday (04/07) and it's nice to have a virgin phone to tweak again.

I tried a Tilt for 10 days from AT&T. Nice handset without any real issues aside from the missing screen driver acceleration software. Two reasons I sent it back:

1. Poor AT&T reception in my home office and, 2. The browsers (PIE, Opera Mobile, and I forget the third) could/would not render a web page I find essential in a readable form.

I wish I could get this handset in a CDMA radio. The extra RAM makes it a great handset and XDA-Developers will likely find a solution to the screen drivers issue.

So now, I'm sliding along with my 2 year old 6700 waiting for the next great release which I hope to be a Treo 800 with 128 MB RAM and WM6.1. I should live so long.

Re: Verizon (Asurion) insurance replacement

I just replaced my XV6700 through Asurion this past Sunday... it was replaced with a refurbed XV6700. I was hoping the same thing, but it looks like they still have plenty of 6700s left. I'll probably just buy a 6800 on eBay since my new every two doesn't hit until December.

Do what I did and say the phone constantly hangs. Have them troubleshoot and mention that you would like a new phone. Dont say anything about a 6800 however let them bring it up.

Re: Verizon (Asurion) insurance replacement

i called asurion because my 6700's joystick button was permanently pressed in - the second phone in two years, not bad considering i use mine like a freak. . . anyway, asurion replaced it by sending me a proof of purchase which i then took to the verizon store and they replaced it . . . with another 6700. if this one goes belly up, then i'll be back at the store in no time.

incidentally the verizon store told me it was a new phone, but little do they know that i am a ppcgeeks member! it's not a refurb, but has been used for some talktime before me . . .

came with bootloader 2.05, so i reverted using the instructions here, and proceeded to load up Rob Mayer's clean no junk WM6 ROM ver. 8 in no time.

running fine. i mentioned the 6800, but they had plenty of 6700s in the store.

this was yesterday

Re: Verizon (Asurion) insurance replacement

So here's what happened with my Asurion claim... I nuked my 6700 replacement that Asurion sent me initially, so I went into a Verizon store to see if they would swap it out with a 6800... didn't say anything about that, just asked about getting it swapped. They said they didn't have any... but directed me to a store a few miles away that supposedly had one. Well, that didn't work, so I called Asurion and told them they sent me a dud phone. They said they would send out a replacement and I asked about getting it replaced in-store and they said I was welcome to try that so I told them to put a hold on it and I would check with a local store. So this afternoon I went to a different store a little further away and asked the same thing. They flat out said they couldn't do an in store exchange because they didn't have any 6700s in. Then they said maybe they could give me a new phone if Asurion okayed it. Well, they called and the Verizon dude sat on hold for probably 20 minutes for me. After about 15 I just said I was going to go and that I would call Asurion from home. They said they would be happy to handle it for me so I said okay. Well, just got home and the VZW store had left a message saying Asurion was going to send me a new 6800 because they didn't have any *new* 6700s and the VZW rep wanted to make sure I didn't get another dud phone. NOW THAT is the kind of customer service I am talking about! I was actually thinking about defecting to Sprint... but I think I'll hang with Verizon for a little while longer.
