I'm pretty sure Google will only let you send mail from your gmail address through their SMTP server. That's normally the way it works. You can't use gmail to send mail coming from your exchange address...
What are you trying to accomplish, exactly? Why do the messages need to be in your gmail sent items if you're not sending them from your gmail account? Please explain your rationale for this and we'll try to help you get there. |

Yes, I will explain.
I just recently had the BlackBerry, which I used for email while not at my computer. Gmail is my only email account. I had the BlackBerry synched up to my Gmail account. Anything that I received on Gmail, or sent on Gmail (whether through my computer or BlackBerry) would show up in Gmail.com sent folder. I like having all my email - both Inbox email and Sent email in one central place. This is in case I have to refer back to something that I sent or received. Now with my PPC 6700, all my Inbox email is in my Gmail Inbox. But my Sent email that is sent from my PPC 6700 is in my mail2web Exchange sent folder. So now my email is getting split up. Some is at Gmail.com, and some is at mail2web. I want all my email - both Inbox and Sent email all in one place! |

OK I'm still confused. You say that gmail is your one and only e-mail, right? So what how does the mail2web thing come into play?
In other words, why don't you simplify everything by setting up your gmail pop3 account on the 6700 directly as the only account? There is no push that way, but you can set it up to download on a schedule. If you are trying to get the best of both worlds by combining gmail with exchange push, I just don't know how successful you will be in the end at getting all the bennies because it's a kludge. I see what you mean about the hassle of sending with a different account than you receive with in the Messaging app. MS really could have done better by allowing you to easily change accounts from within a new e-mail message (the desktop version of Outlook has had that for years). As it is now, you would have to train yourself to go to the gmail account before you click "New". And for replies and forwards, yeah, it would suck even more. Maybe check with mail2web to see if they have some means of forwarding your sent items back to your gmail account (which you could then move into your sent items). If you really want to standardize on one inbox, why not use an exchange one instead? That gives you the best of all worlds with seamless access from Outlook, the web (via Outlook Web Access), and full synchronization with Windows Mobile. Then you could just forward your gmail account to the exchange one and have everything in one place. I for one really like gmail, but their insistence on POP3 really limits the usefulness of their accounts. I'm not sure you can have your cake and eat it too in this case. |

OK, to answer your question as to why I have both the Gmail and the mail2web Exchange server... Well there are several reasons:
1) I want true "push" email. Even setting Pocket Outlook to check every 1-minute is not true push. 2) I like the idea of having my contacts on the exchange server. I always have a continuous and live running address book. That's a great backup. 3) But I really like Gmail. It's wayyyy faster than the MS Exchange with Outlook. When I do a search on Gmail or pull up an email, its almost instantaneous. Gmail also gives me a lot more storage space (for free too) thatn mail2web. The reason that I am not using the standard Pocket Outlook with my Gmail and having it check every 1-minute, is because of all the issues with dissappearing email. I also get an incoming email anytime that I send something from Gmail. I get that same email that I sent. but as an incoming email. So there you have it. |

I understand your reasoning, but I'm not sure that there is any hack that will help you here. Gmail was not designed to be used in conjunction with MS Exchange push, and vice-versa. So yeah by using forwarding you can get it to sort-of work like the way you have it now. But the functionality will not be as seamless as if you used one service or the other.
My only suggestion at this point (besides my earlier one of moving over to exchange 100%, which you didn't like) is to try the third party e-mail client FlexMail by Webis. I have never used it (never had the need) but it offers a lot more features and flexibility than the built-in messaging app. Here's a link: http://www.webis.net/products_info.php?p_id=mail&dir=wm Beyond that I don't think there is much else you can do other than seeing if mail2web can autoforward your sent items back to your gmail account (where they could be moved into your sent items via a rule). In any case, good luck. Report back if you find a solution that works. |

I have the $1.99 Personal Exchange account through Mail2web. I can send emails from my PPC 6700 Pocket outlook utilizing the Mail2web push email account. It even shows as coming from my Gmail address. The problem is that it uses the Mail2web outgoing mail server, and thus the email is not saved in my Gmail.com sent folder. Can you please post the thread from Treocentral.com which you said talks about this?? I could not find the thread after looking on there. Thanks! |

Oh, I misinterpreted you. That is correct, it doesn't show in the gmail out folder. The treocentral thread doesn't talk about that. The thread just talks about how to setup smtp which you already have done. |
