I second (or whatever number it is) the request for a bare bones 3.3 AKU (or even 3.5 since i read that is almost working, awesome work ImCoKeMaN ) ..
I am running Colonel's Beta 1 now. Awesome job BTW. The only thing i could of wished for is, the added programs removed.. Also when the fixes are discovered they are included, for example the dun bt profile... (I'm pretty sure thats still a problem right?) I use usb, but if i ever need to use bt i would like the option. I have tried to "cook" one myself, but just couldn't rap my brain around it.. I think i need pictures or an in depth tutorial.. |

My Rom Kitchen has a tutorial (readme.txt) in it that takes you step by step to building the same custom ROM that i released. That should be good to get you comfortable with the process. From there it's all about adding and removing OEM folders and once we get it set up on here i'm sure they will be readily available. To add an OEM folder just copy it into the OEM directory and then start to build the ROM just like my readme.txt says. There are no different steps. The rom it creates does keep a fairly high amount of storage and program memory available too as it is somewhat basic.
I didn't have much time last night to look at the 3.5, but i should have some more time to work it out soon. In the meantime i'm starting to wonder how many people would still like a 3.5 rom even w/o the usb portion working. It could still sync over the air (mail2web). Just a thought. i'm still looking at it and getting closer, but this part is somewhat uncharted or undocumented at least. |

Your tutorial (thanks) was pretty clear on how to build your rom, but I couldnt figure out exactly where to deviate so the customization process could start. Maybe you could alter or add that step in the .txt document. I'm also using colonel's rom and its working fantastic.

I would like to see this as well. I remember when Wideawake released the 2.2 ROM with no extras extras and an empty extended ROM. The boot time was really speedy and it allowed me to add the stuff I wanted. It would be great to see a 3.3 ROM done the same way minus MSN since it can be added back in anyway.

Just as a honest question, what will a "bare bones" rom get you that you do not already have? I am more than happy to tutor people in building roms, but I always want to make sure that people really know what is going on. A "bare bones" rom will not yield you any more free memory than you are getting now. What you are getting is a rom with some freeware built in that is more useful than you may know. Regardless, I wish everyone the best of luck in their endevors as far as building their "perfect" rom. Biggest question, though, is whether or not it benefits the masses.
