my extended rom is no longer running after flash. i unhid and unlocked it, and its has a default dos symbol like its not really recognised. tried to run it and it says either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cant be found. i even replaced it with a previous one and it didnt work. it was working yesterday. i hard reset 3 times and also flashed twice already. any ideas? on the latest rom that was just uploaded.

There are a lot less files in the Verizon extended rom compared to the Sprint one and not as much information in these and the pdaphonehome forums on what each file does. So I didn't remve much. Here is my config.txt which shows what I still have:

SHOW:\Extended_ROM\Verizon_Logo2.bmp
EXEC:\Extended_ROM\TPDisable.exe
CAB: \Extended_ROM\VZWProvision_Signed.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Apache_VZW_MMS3.0.6.24_20060124.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\getMMSCtxMenuInfo.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Customize_105201.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Enable_RingTone.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Region.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Link.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_AreaCode_Apache_203700.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PT_HideModeOfOperation_Apache_203200 .sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PT_WiFiAndRadio_Apache_203200.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_Version_Apache_207200.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_Nolog_Apache_203200.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PT_BT_Apache_205200.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_AddRingTone_Apache_205200.sa.CAB

CAB: \Extended_ROM\PT_PhoneSettingHelpFile_Apache_20520 0.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_DataRetry_Apache_205200.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_SMSACK_Apache_205200.sa.CAB
EXEC:\Extended_ROM\TPEnable.exe
RST: Reset

Any ideas on what else can be removed and I'll give it a try. At this point I have only removed things I was fairly certain I didn't need.

copy your pim.vol file to your memory card before each flash, after the flash rename the pim.vol on the ppc to pim.vol.old, then copy the pim from ur sd card there. soft reset and delete the pim.vol.old

pim is the contacts as well as call history
Thanks for the respond, I notice you made an ext ROM with iGuidance cab is there a way for the cab to installed to the SD memory card? the xml file in the cab file possibly?

Just a quick observation - the flashlight key only turns the light on. When I press it a second time if flashes off for a second but then stays on. Only when I press the soft key on the screen will it turn off. This was the same for me on beta 2 as the latest one you just put up tonight.

ok its temporarily fixed now. I went into my storage card and checked my backup extended rom to see if the autorun in there showed up as a dos symbol to see if it was the rom that was the problem. Well no it wasnt, so i copied that over to the extended rom. it gave me an error the first time, but i tried again and voila it was in there with its own symbol. Hard reset and its working again. Yeah

A user here kindly posted an explanation of all the cabs a few days ago. Here's a link:

Try holding the button down a little longer and see if it turns off. I have VJCandela Lite assigned to my OK button and a quick press turns it on and a press and hold for about a half-second turns it off.

I really wish I had my own suedo-forum as most of these questions have been answered before. However, I easily understand that noone is going to trudge through 800 posts without being able to search.

Anyway, niagaboy, I would suggest making your own ms.nbf. I am more than happy to help people learn how to do this. This is exactly what I do as I am flashing all day. I flash to test with a blank ExtRom and when I am done, I flash with my own ms.nbf. Its fairly simple. Anyway, I am surprised that your ExtRom was affected since it should have only flashed the rom.

The Flashlight softkey is conflicing with Smartskey. The flashlight will timeout or you can press and hold the press again.

You might be able to install cabs from the ExtRom to storage card. I have not needed to . However this would entail modifying the cab itself and changing the destination directories.

Just noticed this. It might be remnants from when I got rid of Voice Dialer. I will check into this. I do know this though, you can reinstall voice dialer and assign it. So, that makes me think that there may still be something there.

I have never seen this version of Windows Live before. The version I saw was with the Traffic, driving directions, etc. Does this have it too?

Also can I put in my gmail account address into the Windows Live or does it HAVE to be a hotmail account?
