Ok.. I got mine to finally upgrade by loading the latest official sprint ROM and then manually starting the bootloader and upgrading to the 3.3.

Now I can play.

No hard reset necessary, but I recommend it.

Couildn't flash a ROM on my hermes once, but after a hard reset it was seamless
