Re: Is there a WM 6.1 Rom out yet for the 6700?
AFAIU, there are already enhancements available as a seperate download for PIE, which has zoom effects. The other enhancements are threaded messaging, and I think more improvements for Exchange Servers.
Don't really know of much else..

Anyone know where I could score the PIE upgrade? I downloaded a CAB from the XDA forum, but it didn't work on my apache.

Personally, I don't recommend using that. Just download the free test review of Netfront 3.5. It is blazingly faster than PIE, and has so many more features. It is free for several months before you need to download another version that will be free for a few more months. Then, when it is released, buy it. I highly recommend that software. Before, Netfront wasn't really all that spectacular, but now it has the greatest features and best performance, I think.

I am also wondering what the differences between 6.0 and 6.1 are. I tried google but not alot of info comes up..
I know 6.1 has built in Threaded Messaging though... Thats a bonus... - ReDz

Re: Is there a WM 6.1 Rom out yet for the 6700?
The biggest change is going to be the web browser which has taken the pinch and slide techniques of the iPhone and brought some of that functionality to Windows Mobile. The Zoom feature is added to the Internet Explorer, but I do remember that in Windows Mobile 6 certain pda’s with vga resolution could do some zooming built into IE. This is a little different and honestly seems to be a knock off of the Opera Browser. I do not think that the changes in the web browser are going to win over fans, but it is a step in the right direction. Think of Windows Mobile 6.1 more as a service pack for your Windows Operating System rather than a revolution.
Many of you out there have had the pleasure of using threaded text messaging on your Windows Mobile devices for quite some time. One big change in Windows Mobile 6.1 is exactly this feature, but the big bonus is that threaded text (sms) will now be included in the Mobile operating system rather than requiring a separate cab installation. If you are curious about threaded text messaging just go checkout either a Blackberry or an iPhone and scroll through some previous SMS dialogs which will be displayed in Instant Messaging fashion. Honestly I don’t think I could ever live without threaded SMS and if you also feel the same way you might want to go ahead and install the threaded sms cab to your Windows Mobile phone. For the do it yourself individuals out there go ahead and have a go with the .cab file below. Simply save the cab file to your storage card or internal memory on your Windows Mobile 6 device then go ahead and run the file (on the phone). It will require a restart when it is done, but you will never go back to non-threaded text messaging again. Don't know much more than that. Also, remember, all of that ^^^^^ was ripped from http://www.cellfanatic.com/2008/02/0...61-annoucement Don't give me any credit except for bringing it here to this forum. |

I can't wait for the upgrade either. We appreciate the good work that you guys do. Without you, we would still be running WM5 and never knowing of the functionality that we could have had. Thanks again to all the developers!
