If that didn't work, then maybe you have a flaky power button or a hosed battery. You might also try keeping the battery out for a little while, then trying again... |

Soft reset it by putting your stylus in the bottom... usually when you pull the battery out, hitting the power switch alone doesnt work

Have had same problem. Found after inserting the battery, plug in the USB for charging and a second or two it would boot.

I've tried just about all those things.
Held the power button down (for at least 10 sec): nothing Pushed the soft reset button on the bottom and then tried power button: nothing I've taken the battery out 6-8 times, reseated it, and retried: nothing Plugged charger in with battery cover off, wiggled the battery to try to make a connection and I"m still getting a solid red light. If the charger is plugged in with battery out I get flashing red light. CAn't get green light. I'll try these suggestions specifically, in case I did something slightly off. Unknown Zone -- where were you 2 days ago? Oh well, at least I have the ESN now. Still looking for the magic solutuion... |

If your battery is low, the charge light will be red when you plug it in. Have you tried leaving it plugged in for a while to see if the light turns green?
When you plug it into your computer, do you get a flashing red light? I had a problem with a new xv6700 I bought where it wouldn't turn on. When plugged into a charger, it showed the red low battery light, but when I plugged it into the computer, it showed a flashing red light. Looking down the side of the battery, I saw that some contacts were bent. I pulled the battery, adjusted the contacts, and plugged it into the computer, got a solid red light, and it started to boot up. If that doesn't work for you, try these things (in this order) with the phone plugged into the charger: A. Try putting your phone into bootloader mode: hold the power and record buttons at the same time and press the soft reset key. Does your screen say "Serial" or "USB" (there will be no backlight)? B. Try hard resetting: hold the left and right soft keys and press the soft reset button. Be careful here--if you select 'Y' at the prompt, all of your data will be erased beyond recovery. |

How sensetive are the "fingers" for the battery on the phone? They all have some "give" to them but the two in the middle look sliiiiightly more pushed in than the others.
The contacts on the battery itself look ok... not real cruddy or anything. Not sure how I'd clean if I had to. Also the battery was at full charge when I pulled it in the first place. Tried most all of the reset options above & nothing. Not even on hard reset. (Not worried about losing data becasue it was a new phone anyway.) When it's plugged in to charger even for 1.5 hours, it still has the red light. This makes me think that the battery's not connected fully... sound right? URGH! Still need help... |

One final bump in case there's any more suggestions. I've tried all and got nothing.
If I plug it in for an hour or more the red light stays on. Think that means it's not connecting to the battery? |
